I have a confession to make. I have never been on a school senate before in my life.
This is what sets me apart from most of the candidates you see running for positions like
this one. My lack of senate experience might seem like a weakness at first, but I think
it is actually one of my greatest strengths. Like so many of you, I know how it feels to
be in the dark about what is going on up there in Senate. I know the comfort of voting for
a candidate with years of experience on student council and a well-rehearsed speech, trust
me; I've been doing it since the 4th grade. I also know the feeling of disappointment
when the person you elected does not do what they promise to do or lead with the enthusiasm
they promise to lead with. It's not always their fault; the truth is that we as individuals
have limited power to affect the workings of our school. Together as a class, however,
we can have a profound impact on the way MA runs. This is why I am running for class rep.
I am running for class rep, because I can lead our class in unity, and we can ensure
together that the impact we have on our school benefits US. I am one of you guys, a peer,
a friend, a learner, and I always will be, throughout my time at MA. Because I have that
connection to each and every member of our class, I know that I can lead with all of
you as my top priority. I have spent a long time thinking about if I am capable of leading
our class, and whether I am even fit to run, because how could I run if I didn't think
I had the potential be a good leader? You are all amazing people, and you deserve the
best leaders possible. It would be an honor to be your class rep, and if you elect me,
I promise to lead thoughtfully and enthusiastically. I promise to be approachable, engaging, and
above all, to do my absolute best to prove worthy of your votes. Vote Robert, and next
year will be awesome in a way that may or may not rhyme with Robert.
