Hello and greetings from the Ritsumeikan University Ga Gaku Club
What do you find appealing about Ag Gaku? About 1,000 years ago, during the Heian Period (794-1185) Ga Gaku traveled from China and the Korean peninsula to Japan.
Since then it has been passed down without change, keeping its traditions and style over the centuries. This is something I find wonderful.
Ga Gaku is not only about playing interments, but dancing and singing are also involved.
Being able to experience these many aspects is what makes Ga Gaku so appealing to me.
How have you grown through Ga Gaku? One charectoristic of Ga Gaku is there is no conductor.
The Kakko (two sided drum) plays the role of a conductor,
but no one person leads a performance. Therefore it is critical everyone is in sync when performing.
We must understand each others motivation and progress in order to play together.
I feel I have really been able to cultivate my ability to communicate through Ga Gaku.
