>> I love what I'm doing,
because when I was younger I went to speech therapy
and it made such a big difference in my life.
And then as I got older I knew that I wanted to get
into a profession that was going
to make a difference in peoples' lives.
I think part of what attracts me to the field is getting to work
with the children, getting to work with the families,
but also getting to work as other professionals,
so being in a situation where we can look at the child
as a full child, not just looking at the speech piece
or the language piece or the physical piece, but I'm able
to collaborate with other professionals.
And we can help the child grow as a child.
I think if someone wanted to become a speech therapist,
I'm not quite sure; I'd probably ask them
if they liked helping people, if they liked working with people,
if they liked having fun, getting down on the floor
with kids and playing games, or really just being able to sit
down and talk to people.
That's really what we do and it makes such a big difference.
