What do a limited amount of time, productivity, profitability, the quality of life, happiness all have in common?
Making good decisions.
Each day, our life begins with a bombardment of information.
Social networks, reminders, alerts, meetings, phone calls, messages and more.
The human brain cannot possibly handle that amount of information and still make informed decisions.
We developed a decision tool that guides you through your decision-making process and provides instructions on every step of the way.
After your model is complete, you're able to visualize your alternatives to better understand how they compare.
We don't provide a magic box that will do decision-making for you,
it's all about supporting your cognitive process and facilitating reflection onto your decision problem.
Let's take a look at an example.
We first name our decision and click next. We'll be deciding which car to buy.
On the first step we type in the alternatives. These are the options among which we're choosing.
We're considering these types of cars: Safe Wagon, Luxurious Limousine, Funky Roadster and Villa Van.
On step two we type in the factors (or criteria) which influence our decision.
We use factors to evaluate our alternatives.
We'll be evaluating by Acceleration, Looks, Price, Safety and Comfort.
Not all factors are equally important, therefore we arrange them from the most to the least important.
Third step requires us to think about how alternatives compare at any given factor and adjust the sliders to the appropriate position.
We first rate our alternatives by Safety.
Safe Wagon is pretty safe, but Luxurious Limousine is even safer.
Funky Roadster falls in the middle of our imaginary scale and Villa Van is given a bit less.
We repeat this process for all factors.
In the fourth step we analyze our decision model.
We can see that the Safe Wagon came first based on our choice of factors and evaluation.
Often in life we are put between two or more choices that are neck-and-neck, like Safe Wagon and Luxurious Limousine in our case.
We therefore look at the second graph which shows a more detailed comparison.
We see the biggest discrepancy between the two is the Price.
In almost every other way the Luxurious Limousine is better.
Before running to the shop and spending our fortune, we share this decision model with our friends and followers to get their opinion.
Odesys can be used for almost any decision you can think of as long as you can identify factors and find alternatives.
Give it a try!
