Hi this is Matt Saternus for Plugged In Golf and in today's video I'm going to tell you
about another Training Aid That Works, the Putting Fork. Let's get plugged in.
No matter what putting philosophy you subscribe to, one thing we can all agree on is that
you need to start the ball on line consistently to be a good putter. And that's the only thing
that the Putting Fork focuses on, starting the ball on line. So let's talk about how
to use it and what makes it so good.
Using the Putting Fork is very easy. Simply lay it on the putting green and anchor it
with three tees. Once it's anchored, you can use the four pairs of holes to set up the
tee gate at whatever difficulty you choose. Also keep in mind that the height you put
the tee at will affect the difficulty: if you push the tee all the way down or very
high , it will be easier than if you have the tee at the equator of the ball. Once it's
set up, simply put a ball in the back of the Putting Fork, square your putter face to the
alignment aid in the Putting Fork, and make your stroke. If the ball passes cleanly through
the gate, you know that you've started your ball perfectly on line. If it bangs off one
of the tees, you know that your putter face was open or closed at impact.
One of the things I like best about the Putting Fork is that it's very difficult. There are
a lot of putting aids and training aids in general that are too easy and when a training
aid is too easy you don't focus when you're using it, you don't concentrate, and you don't
have good practice. With the Putting Fork, it's very difficult to get the ball through
the gate when you put it at its most difficult setting and so it forces you to focus, concentrate,
and practice regularly is you want to consistently get the ball through the gates. And when you
can start doing that you will absolutely putt better. The other thing I really like about
it is that it allows you to get good quality practice in anywhere you are. You can use
this indoors simply by flipping some tees upside down and putting the Putting Fork on
them. So no matter where you are you can get good quality putting practice without having
to drive to the putting green at your local course.
