I've been an ascetic for eleven years now
So do you have a family?
I still live with my mother.
Okay, you still live with your mother.
So when do you come here to Chitrakoot?
When I've enough money I come here.
I use half of that amount to feed poor. The other half goes to my mother.
Okay, to your mother.
Yes, to my mother.
(Other) Baba ji is blind.
How many siblings do you have?
I've 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Are they living a life of devotion like you?
No, they are married and have families.
I am not married.
It has been fifteen year since I lost my eyesight. Since then I've been in Chitrakoot taking the name of Lord Rama.
I used to beg for food. Almost for a year I lived on beggary.
A few years back an old lady, coming down from a temple nearby; said to me, "Can't you chant the name of God? If not then go back and do farming!"
I was ashamed with tears in my eyes. I realized her words were true. Then and there I decided I would neither eat nor beg.
I would only chant the name of Lord Rama. God's name is like free money. It is entirely up to you how you use it.
I don't have anyone who donates me money regularly. I don't have any rich man who donates even thousand ruppees to me regularly. I don't want to take anybody's money.
I just want to chant the name of God. If He desires He will provide for food and money.
Everyone of us have a different view on spirituality. I believe even if you do devotion whole day but a moment of deliberate viciousness ruins your entire devotion. You're not worthy to be a sadhu (ascetic) anymore!
Devotion is bigger than anything else. It helps you to make amends for your next birth.
It is in God's wish to behold Himself to me. I cannot command Him to come.
The time and efforts I spend on endlessly chanting name of Sita-Rama is worth spending on others around me. Anything born out of these efforts and spend on others is the real prasad (blessed gift).
Always do devotion. Don't be pretentious just because you have money. Money earned honestly would help you. Money earned dishonestly takes you on the path to hell.
