On the corner of Mill Road and Gateway Drive sits a gas station. At this fuel oasis - you'll
find one of the most experienced gas jockeys around.
"I started here in 1955 and I've been here ever since."
To some, this small building may not seem like much, but there is more than meets the
eye. "Oh we hear that all the time, ya know: 'I
haven't seen a place like this since we were kids.'"
And Bob's kids happen to be just as good as he is at filling it up.
"Back in the 50's and 60's this is al it was." This pump from the past has been around since
the 1930's. The customers pull up to get their tanks filled but can always expect a little
more. "I mean we have a good group of people who
come in everyday and we look forward to teasing some."
I like how you took the long way. "And Bob, the owner, always gives me a pen-a
free pen usually. And sometimes I get a piece of candy."
"They love us." We live in a time that is anything but full
service. It's nice to come across places like Bob's Oil to get our fill of that something
extra. Reporting for Studio One, I'm Tasha Olson.
