Hi! Welcome to LBS 101. My name is Jessica and I will be the voice you hear as you complete your course.
Before you get started with the course, please watch this video in its entirety. This video should address any questions you might have, but if you still have questions at the end, please contact your instructor, Glen Johnson.
When you logged into the course via Blackboard, you entered into the Course homepage, where you found this video.
You also have a brief description of the course, including a copy of the syllabus. You have the contact information for your instructor Glen Johnson, as well as information about Shelton State Libraries.
This course is comprised of 13 individual lessons that culminate in a final exam.
Each lesson will follow the same basic order.
For each lesson, you will have a journal entry to write. Click on the link Journal. This will lead you to the prompt page. From there, you can hit create journal entry to write your entry. Entries should be well written and 1-2 paragraphs.
After doing the journal entry, some lessons will have readings that you will need to complete.
Below that you will find a video lecture available through YouTube.
After the video lectures you will find additional materials. This will often be additional readings and videos, as well as the PowerPoint file used in the video lecture.
The last item for each lesson is the lesson assignment. Click on the assignment to submit it via Blackboard. You may use the submission box there or you can attach a word document.
Assignments will only be accepted via Blackboard (not in person and not via email).
When you have finished all 13 lessons, you may contact Mr. Johnson for permission to take the final exam.
There is a glossary listed. This glossary has words and phrases that you might encounter throughout this course that might be unfamiliar to you.
You can also access your grades via this menu.
That is a brief overview of the course. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to direct those to Mr. Johnson. Have a good semester and good luck!
