In education now.
Nga Whanaketanga Rumaki Maori is a new curriculum to lead teachers
and students to success.
It was launched earlier today at Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Rotoiti.
Nga Whanaketanga Rumaki Maori show the ongoing progress
of children years 1 to 8 giving the ability for those children
to reach their potential.
It is to provide objectives, plans and activities
for Maori immersion school teachers
to nurture the Maori mind.
Nga Whanaketanga will also be used by teachers
to report to parents, whanau and children,
on the progress of their child
and how they can become involved in their learning.
This is much different to the mainstream curriculum.
This is currently being trialled in various schools
by the families and parents of the school.
The curriculum also includes literacy and numeracy
for teachers and students.
They aim to begin using the new curriculum in the New Year
in all Maori immersion schools around the country.
We must take and translate the Pakeha system,
this has been written with Maori ideology.
The main thing is that through this new way of teaching and learning
everyone moves ahead.
