Whether he is showing off his dance moves, shooting bad guys, or making the ladies swoon,
this guy is taking Hollywood by storm in a big way. Here is your movieline on Channing
Tatum.
Channing first emerged onto the big screen in Step Up opposite his now wife, Jenna Dewan.
Since then, he has played everything from a heartthrob, to a wisecracking cop, to a
STRIPPER. And he’s even produced a few films along the way.
That’s a long way from his days passing out flyers on college campuses, a job he told
Black Tree TV he held before hitting it big.
So what’s next for the versatile actor and 2012’s Sexiest Man Alive, according to People
Magazine? How about a lead role in a mega action franchise?
Channing puts his muscles to good use to reprise his role as Duke in the upcoming GI Joe reboot,
GI Joe: Retaliation. Channing’s star has been rising so quickly, that the film’s
release date was pushed back from last year so that the filmmakers could include more
scenes featuring the actor.
The film will finally release worldwide on March 28th.
Now the question on everyone’s mind -- including mine! -- is “Will there be a Magic Mike
2?” Well it seems that more backflips, body rolls, and shirt rips will be coming our way
-- under one condition. According to Channing, the sequel can only happen if director Steven
Soderbergh returns behind the camera.
And who can blame him! The two seem to have something magical going on, having collaborated
on 3 movies already: Last year’s Haywire and Magic Mike, as well as this year’s psychological
thriller Side Effects.
Channing had this to say to Beyond the Trailer about his partner in movie making.
In the meantime, expect more physical action of a different kind, with the upcoming White
House Down. Channing stars as a Secret Service agent who must protect the President, played
by Jamie Foxx, after the White House is attacked by an opposing military group.
He gushed about the opportunity to take on the demanding role to Entertainment Weekly,
saying, “I’ve always been looking to do a movie like this — to jump out of windows
and stuff. [...] I think I’ve got, like, three more good years of hard action in me.”
And while it wasn’t exactly full of high-flying stunts, Channing did get to show off some
action moves in last year’s surprise hit 21 Jump Street. Soon, he will reteam with
his co-star Jonah Hill to shoot the film’s sequel, which features the duo as two very
different cops, paired together to solve crimes undercover.
The hilarious remake of the popular 80s series proved for the first time that Channing had
what it takes to succeed in the comedy genre -- and the two are hoping for the same box
office success for part 2 -
Maybe this time they can investigate a crime that goes down in a strip club?
It’s just a thought.
