It was pretty exciting. We go to Cleveland and its the first time they have held nationals
in Ohio for a while. We take 3 kids and we are excited about going. We leave Wednesday
at 6 am in the morning. It was in Colorado, Grand Junction at Mesa State University. We
had 3 placers in the top 3. Me first Andrew 3rd and Zach 3rd. We are really looking forward
to nationals and going out there to compete. Hopefully we will be all Americans. I lost
in the semis to a kid from ? He beat me earlier at the ? I am not playing for change I want
to make it to the finals and win the region. I came back the next day wrestled 2 good matches
and came out and performed. Now I am going to nationals. Absolutely it makes it easier.
Going with Isaiah and Zack makes it easier. We want all 3 guys to place and be All Americans.
Win the right 2 matches and if we get 3 all Americans we will probably place in the top
10 in the nation. Thats our goal. At 133 Hertatto has an upper Iowa guy that was 5th in the
regional but very tough. We will have to watch out for him. At 184 is zach. He has a guy
from Notre Dame that was 2nd in their region and that will be a tough match. At 197 Reggie
has another upper Iowa guy that has ranked 2nd in the nation in returning All Americans
so they are all 3 tough matches. Once you get to that level they are all tough. We just
have to win 1 match at a time. Mainly going in there and not thinking about it being nationals.
Whatever you have done this season doesn't mean anything anymore. Conference champ, fifth
in the conference 4th in the conference it doesn't matter. You just have got to go there
and show up. Walk in to that gym like you want to be an all American and leave that
place with an all american. You have to convince yourself that you have done the right things
everyday and that you are not going to be denied a plaque. They set an example for us.
Them 2 being in the top 10. We are looking forward to going in there and competing at
our best and finishing strong. Hopefully in the top 10. Hopefully we can follow it up
and be in the top 10. Not so much technique just more getting my mind ready. It is definitely
a grind. It is a small bracket, a 16 man bracket and everyone is pretty tough. I went there
my freshman year and thought I was going to have success and I ended up going 0 and 2
so just being mentally prepared is most important. The right 2 matches. So if you win your first
2 you're automatically in the semis. You're in the top 6. If you lose your first one you
have to win your next 2 to place in the top 8. This week i am trying to be 100 percent
focused. Just going to go out there and try to finish out the season strong and wrestle
hard and have some fun.
