Welcome to KnifeHog.com, I'm Anne Royall. Today we'll be reviewing the Kershaw Leek
Folding Blade. Designed by Ken Onion and made right here in America, the Leek stands out
as one of Kershaw's top selling designs. The blade of the Leek has evolved along with
Sanvic stainless steel. All of the current Leeks have fourteen C28 end stainless which
provides superior rust resistance over earlier models. This is the sharpest production knife
made and probably not the best birthday present for little Jimmy. The Leek is ideal as an
everyday carry blade and I personally carry one everywhere. It cuts through paper and
cardboard like butter, has nice heft in your hand could even be used as a tactical blade
in the pinch. The Leek comes in various models but today I review the LC27, which has an
olive handle and flat grind. Kershaw offers a number of different handle
options in several colors and even stainless steel. The back side of this knife features
a tip lock, which can be stocky. Some of you may like this and some of you may not. I however
am a fan. This pocket clip is set up for righties only, so if you're a south paw, I would suggest
that you avoid looking at this knife. We also need to discuss the Speed Safe Assistance
opening system, it is quick. It might be the fastest we've ever seen! The thin blade has
thumb studs on each side, which are difficult to maneuver if you have larger hands. Moving
those higher on the blade would have been a good move by Kershaw. Leeks range anywhere
from $70-$100, making them a mid-tier folder. However, a smart buyer can find them for much
less. The Kershaw Leek isn't perfect. The thumb
studs need some work and the slick handle scales are probably not a good idea on a knife
this sharp. It's not suited for every job, if you need a heavy duty knife get a heavy
duty knife. But, if you're looking for something to do some detailed work or even just a really
sharp EDC the Leek is a perfect choice. I absolutely love this knife! It's sleek,
hair-splitting sharp and the Speed Safe Opening is a winning combination. We give this 4 out
of 5 stars. For all things sharp, buy now at Knifehog.com
