Hi I am Anna from Telstra and this video I will take you through some tips and tricks
on how to manage the data on your Blackberry Bold when travelling abroad.
Managing your
mobile data when you’re overseas is important and these easy steps should help you to do
this.
The first thing you should check before travelling is whether or not your data roaming
is switched on.
To do this select ‘options’ from the home menu, then select ‘Network
and Connections’ then ‘Mobile Network’ then you have the option to turn ‘data services’
on and off, and the option to switch on and off ‘while roaming’.
Please be aware
of the costs you can incur if you have Data Roaming switched on. These costs and other
options including international data roaming packs can be found on our website at telstra.com/overseas
Using
a Wifi network when travelling is the easiest ways to reduce your data roaming costs. Here’s
how to do it.
On the home screen click or tap the connections area at the top of the
screen or click the manage connections icon. From here go to ‘Wifi Network’.
Here
you will see a list of wifi networks. Select the network you wish to join. You may be then
prompted to enter a password. For some WiFi hotspots you may need to open the browser
to enter the password.
You also have the option to select 'open networks only', that
means non-password protected wifi networks. The wifi network that you've joined will then
appear at the top of the home screen.
When travelling in another country and with data
and roaming settings set to off, blackberry smartphones can still receive emails, application
updates and notifications via a wifi network if the wifi network is free you won't incur
data charges for using your blackberry handset
Thank you for taking the time to watch our video,
we hope you have found it helpful. If you need further information or are having problems
when overseas please refer to our website at telstra.com/overseas or call the number
on the screen. Thanks for watching.
