SPC Preview – SPC Security
At St. Petersburg College we seek to provide a safe and secure environment for students,
staff and visitors to our campuses. Hi I’m Dan Barto, Director of Collegewide
Security Services We should be aware that by using common sense
and following some basic rules of security, we will lessen the risk of crime to us and
the college. So remember: Never leave your car doors unlocked whether
parked or in use. Textbooks are a major expense for most students.
Secure them or keep them with you at ALL times. When leaving classes at night, try to go with
a group or at least one other person to the parking lots. If no one is around, don’t
hesitate to call Campus Security for an escort. Be alert to your surroundings at all times.
If you see any suspicious or unusual activity, notify Campus Security immediately, giving
the location and nature of the activity and a description of the suspicious persons.
Never walk through unlighted areas of the campus at night.
SPC employs over 30 uniformed security officers across all SPC campuses to assist you. These
officers can provide you with a variety of services such as a safety escort, assistance
with dead car batteries or if you're locked out of your vehicle, and parking regulation
enforcement. If you are ever in need of our services please
do not hesitate to contact our college wide security dispatch center at 791-2560.
In an emergency situation call 911 first then notify SPC security.
The SPC Security Department supports the educational mission of the college by maintaining a safe
environment that enhances the quality of life for all members of the college community.
Thank you and welcome to St. Petersburg College. It’s a great and safe place to be.
