Hey, everybody. Kristin Shaffer here, founder of FAB University and =
FigureandBikini.org, and today is the first day of my 10-week journey to =
step on stage at the Emerald Cup. Now, for those of you who are not =
familiar with the Emerald Cup, this is the largest fit body, bikini, =
fitness, bodybuilding competition in the Northwest. It's a really =
incredible show. Last year I was fortunate enough to win first place in =
my class. You also might recall that I had quite a transformation =
journey, and I'll show a video clip of my *** shrinking before your =
eyes. It's a lovely sight.
It was quite a transformation. This year I don't have as much body fat =
to drop but I certainly have a long way to go to get ready to step on =
stage with the most amazing women on the planet. So week by week I'm =
going to be documenting my workouts, my journey, the trials and =
tribulations that go with getting ready for stage because there's ups =
and downs, just like any other journey we take in life. So I hope you =
enjoy this journey and take it with me, and if you have any questions go =
ahead and send them to me because you know what? I just might feature =
your questions and my answers to your questions in these videos. So =
let's get started and I hope to see you next week.
I'm getting ready for the Emerald Cup, which is the largest =
bodybuilding, fitness, figure, and fit body competition in the =
Northwest. And that's about 10 weeks out now. So 10 weeks from now I'll =
be stepping on stage with some of the most amazing bodies on the planet. =
This year I want to change things up a little bit. I'm going to try to =
come in a little bit leaner than I did last year, a little tighter all =
the way around. I was really pleased the way I came in last year. I was =
actually fortunate enough to win first place in my class, and I just =
stepped on stage with the most amazing women on the planet. They were =
just incredible. This year I do want to come in a little bit tighter. =
I'm also trying to downsize my shoulders a little bit. I thought I was a =
bit out of proportion on my shoulder size and my arm size. Pretty much =
everything else I want to pretty much stay the same as it was last year. =
But those are my goals for this year. In order to downsize my shoulders, =
what that entails typically is lighter weights and more reps, more =
repetitions, with the weights. When I'm trying to increase size, I =
typically go higher weights and lower repetitions. You know, I started =
on my diet a couple of weeks ago and now that I'm about 10 weeks out, =
pretty much how I've changed it up from my normal diet really is not a =
whole lot. My normal maintenance calories is about 2,100, and I =
generally eat pretty clean anyway but when I'm getting ready for a =
competition I try to get ultra clean with my diet, which means I'm =
eating no processed foods at all. It's all unprocessed foods. What I =
will be doing as the weeks go on, and I think we're going to be talking =
about this as each week goes on here, is switching out a lot of my =
starchy carbohydrates and subsisting more fibrous carbohydrates so that =
allows my body to drop body fat a little bit quicker and a little bit =
more efficiently. Other than that, things pretty much stay the same, =
except just no junk food, except for maybe last week when my sweetheart =
was gone and I kind of fell off the wagon and ate a little too much =
sugar. That's another story. You know, my training doesn't change a =
whole lot as well, you know, when compared to what I normally do, but =
where it does change is the intensity. It gets a little bit higher. I'm =
definitely more serious about it when I'm coming into a competition than =
I am when I'm not preparing for a competition, and I'm more diligent =
about getting into the gym and making sure that I get there every night. =
My sweetheart also keeps me on track there, which is really nice to have =
that support system. I think that's important whenever you're taking on =
a challenge like this. I think tonight we're going to be... it's =
Saturday night, which for me that means I'm going to be training arms in =
the gym. So I think we're going to head to the gym right now and show =
everybody how it's done. It's 8:30 and we're late. They close at 9:00. =
Let's go. Go.
