So, here are a few different types of paper that you might want to use for the contact
sheet. Again, Ilford. One I've talked about before, absolutely great. This is a paper
called Oriental Professional. It's kind of inexpensive, used to be one of my favorite
papers. Usually, somewhere between ten to fourteen dollars a pack. Really great for
just doing contact sheets on. You can look at these numbers down here and sometimes this
is glossy. You can read these tiny little. When I first started, I would get nervous
in the photo store and I would be worried I'd buy the wrong thing. But, if you read
medium weight glossy smooth. Pure white, pure black tone. Perfect for a contact sheet. And,
again when I was buying these things even if it's via the Internet I always try to slow
down. Again, back to the time thing. You don't want to be in a rush when you're dealing with
this stuff. Also, if you go into a photographic supply store most of the people that work
at these stores are extremely knowledgeable. If you explain what you're looking for, they're
definitely going to help you. One thing you don't want to buy is a five by seven pack
of paper to make an eight by ten contact sheet. Which, I've had some beginning students not
really understand you need the right size of paper to make that contact sheet.
