The Prime Minister says
there are genuine concerns about people fighting
and has cancelled passports of a small group of New Zealanders
who'd been planning to go to Syria.
He says there is always a risk
that people who go in to that environment
could come back in a radicalised state.
The PM would only admit to a group of less than 10
whose passports were cancelled,
but a representative of the NZ Syrian community today
says his sources reveal that two brothers are involved
and says the Prime Minister has made assumptions
which has led to people being stripped of their rights.
Over 100,000 lives have been lost since the civil war began
and almost 10 million people driven from their homes due to violence.
