This video is all about the setup of our Yamahas. We are now in sunny Cape Town after a 22.000km
drive from Denmark. Its has been a very smooth ride, We have been riding the Tenere XT 660
one stroke water cooled. The only fault we had is that in Namibia my frontlight bulb
poped. We have changed oil and spark pugs after 10.000km.
...................
Bags - maybe lift them at bit and rotate and push them backjust a bit.
Even better go with soft bags witch are less harmful to you if you fall like I did in Greece.
We both have tank bags - they take much of the air that is pushed up by the front fork hole.
I have a big Givi wind screen on my bike - but when you only drive 70km/t like you do in Africa, you dont need it.
Aske made a bigger screen him self, but not good for his view because of the joint.
The Tourtech have handelbar/lever protection mounted and it worked super fine.
We have crash bars installed and they have saved our bikes from lots of dings - we drooped them many times and I crashed twice. The bikes
a quite high and if you are lower than 180cm you need a lower seat or lower the bike else you will
drop you bike all the time when off road. Else maybe go for BWM GS 600 they are much
lower. We also mounted engine protection - no need for that expensive part on this high
bike. We have lens protection fine and cheap part. Aske i 190cm and have a kit to higher
his steering bar - great for him. Im back. Our GPS is the great Garmin 276c. Use with
gloves and Open Street Map - perfect for Africa! Mount it high. We really had no mud so no
real wear on our brakes. Chain. Just lube and go. Airfilter. We just used paper filter
and it was fine - the air is clean down here. We have mounted a center stand for easy lube
and easy fix of punctures. We only punctured one time each on the full trip. We had great
tiers! You need one extra set for the trip - just buy it i Nairobi. We really did not
need out mud tires - no mud on our trip. But maybe just go with mud font tires all the
way. They will go around 10.000km each and are super on gravel and sand. Only one front light bulb lights
at any one time - fix this so you can light them both at the same time. Try best you can not
to ride at night! Gas 23L on board and it runs 25km/L and that gives you more than 500km
range. This
trip have been great! You should definitely go for it! Have fun! You are welcome to se more
