Hello and welcome to a rather short and sweet Truthloader's Monday show, featuring rice
racing, Sly artwork, and your comments. But first up, and the NSA have been spying again.
This time on the Spanish. And no one was surprised.
In recent days, it's been claimed the NSA tapped 70 million French phonecalls and the
personal phone of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which the German newspaper Bild now
claims was done with the express authorisation of Obama, although he denies any knowledge.
Now, Spanish media are reporting that the NSA monitored 60 million calls there in the
month from December 10 2012 to January 8th 2013.
The US ambassador in Madrid has been summoned to discuss the allegations, and it will change
absolutely nothing because freedom only seems to mean freedom to do what you want if you're
a massive government agency with unlimited funding, not freedom from the US being able
to do whatever they want to you.
Adam's doing a longer piece on the latest revelations from the Snowden leaks which should
be up today. Clicky annotation for linky to see it.
And now it's time for your comments, and Grace is still away so MS Paint is coming back out
to play.
In our piece on Herve Falciani, the Edward Snowden of the banking world, JouJou264 wrote
"Wouldn't Edward Snowden be the Herve Falciani of intelligence gathering? Unless we don't
follow time, then we can say whatever the hell we want."
Time is relative, JouJou, especially on YouTube. I'm 56. Lies, you're probably right.
And in our 90 second science bulletin story about gold being found in eucalyptus trees,
Truthloader favourite Randomstuffs 261 wrote "Those Koala *** have been sitting on
this information for YEARS! Friendly creatures? - I've NEVER HEARD SUCH
LIES Retribution!"
Don't let the Sloths hear you say that, they're in on it too...
And now to some of our other favourite stories from the week, and first up, to the Philippines.
And what do you do when you're at the top of a huge UNESCO protected mountain rice paddy?
You wakeskate, obviously. Brian Grubb and Dominik Preisner hit the world famous Banaue
(Bana-way) rice terraces for a spot of rather precarious extreme sports. But whilst they
had local permission, the stunt has caused controversy with some claiming it's damaged
the 2000 plus year old structures. However, stunt organisers Red Bull have insisted that
no damage was incurred and they were fully respectful of the local history and environment.
And finally to St Petersburg, where thousands of punters have gathered to witness an exhibition
by one of the art world's most respected... Oh, it's all by Sylvester Stallone. Yes, believe
it or not Sly always wanted to be an artist rather than an actor: SOT
And fans won't be disappointed. The aguish and struggle portrayed by Sly in such classics
as Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III and rocky V has found its way into his art too. Such as
this piece, titled Aaaadriaaan, and this piece, titled Aaaadrian. And this piece, titled Aaaadrian.
