Hi! I'm Christine from So Domestically Challenged, where we help you take control of your clutter.
Today, I'm going to give you some quick and easy tips on dealing with pipe cleaners. If
you have kids, the odds are you have a few pipe cleaners around in your house.
Pipe cleaners tend to bend. Sometimes, your kids get to them before you do and they don't
stay in the nice little bag. Sometimes they pour out. They can just be a pain to deal
with. So today I'm going to give you 2 simple solutions for keeping control of your pipe
cleaners.
Option number 1: A mailing tube. I actually got this one when I bought something off of
Amazon, but you can purchase one anywhere where they sell mailing supplies. It's the
kind of thing that you would use to send maybe a poster or a document. They come in various
sizes and they only cost a couple of dollars a piece. It is tall enough to handle all of
these pipe cleaners. Also, it's very durable. You don't have to worry about it getting crushed.
The downside, is it can be a little hard to open. But all you do is pop off the lid, and
this one will open from either side, but you only have to open one. Take your pipe cleaners,
make sure you aren't bending them. Voila! And it closes up and keeps perfectly. Of course,
you can't really tell that it's pipe cleaners, so you might want to decorate the outside
with some wrapping paper or scrapbook paper or something and a little label that says
"pipe cleaners" so you can find them.
The second option that you have for pipe cleaners is this handy dandy little paintbrush case.
I found this at Hobby Lobby. It's regular price is $1.99, but if you shop Hobby Lobby,
you know that there are 40% off coupons floating around all the time. So in the end, it's about
a dollar.
Now, compared to the pipe cleaners, it's too short. But the beauty of this baby is that
it adjusts. And it can get pretty tall. So, what you do, is you take the lid off, which
is a little skinnier than the base. And you're going to pop them in, And then you just contain
them right in there. Voila! For a dollar, we have stored these in a translucent container
where the kids can see them.
If you're storing them for yourself, this is a great, inexpensive way to go if you have
one around that you received in the mail. Purchasing one from the store: I don't know
if you can do better than our paintbrush holder here.
For kids, definitely go with the clear because if they don't see it right away, younger kids
tend to dump things everywhere. So, having a container where they can see what they're
looking for is your best friend.
