Welcome to this webchat with Dani Alves.
-Hi, Dani. Good evening. -Good evening.
This is an initiative from CampNouLive
which aims to bring the millions of Barça fans worldwide
closer to the first team and the club.
It's made possible, as always, by Google+ Hangout.
Thanks to the online Hangout on Google+
we can do this interview with Dani Alves.
This is a conversation with fans following us live on the website:
www.fcbarcelona.cat
They're watching us now too on the club's website.
Good evening, everyone, welcome to this online hangout
with Dani Alves, who is here with us.
It's an initiative from CampNouLive
which aims to bring the millions of Barça fans worldwide
closer to the first team and the club.
It's made possible, as always, thanks to Google+ Hangout.
So, hello to all the people following us live on the web
through the official Barça website.
Okay, Dani, that's all the introductions. Thank you.
Yes. Thanks. It's a pleasure to be able to share
this moment with the Barça fans,
and with my fans too.
With your followers in particular. And this is a different interview.
We're on a sofa here in the Ciutat Esportiva,
and all those followers are out there in their homes.
Shall we meet them now so they can say hello?
Yes, of course.
We'll use different languages:
mostly Spanish, but also Catalan and Portuguese…
-Please. -His language.
I'm saying that so we're all aware of it
and this chat can be followed around the world.
Now let's meet the fans who are watching this
and who can take part in this video chat.
First of all, Antonio de la Mora, from Santander.
Antonio, how are you? Hello.
-Good evening. -You're ready.
We'll start the questions soon.
Vinicious, from Brazil. Did I say it right?
Vinicious, bravo.
Vinicious. Good evening.
How do you say good evening?
-Juanfran Bautista. -Hello. Good evening.
Good evening. We'll come back to you soon.
Now it's Miao Li Xiang, from China.
-Good evening. -Miao Xiang!
-Hello, Daniel. -Hello.
Hello. "Ni Hao".
And we'll also talk to Sandra Colom,
-you're closer to home, Sandra. -Hello.
-Hello. -Good evening.
-Thanks for joining us. -Thank you.
We'll also see and hear from Imanuel, from Indonesia.
But you speak Spanish.
Yes, of course. For years and years.
No, but if it's difficult, ask in English.
Thank you, we'll soon start the first round of questions,
because they're all waiting, but first, let me ask you this:
Messi just signed a new contract until 2018,
and this morning Jordi Alba said it was great news for FC Barcelona.
How do you feel about that, Dani,
as his teammate and someone who's played a lot with Messi?
I think for everyone who loves him, for all "culés",
and all the Barça fans, today is a special day,
because our best player is going to be at the club a lot longer now.
Personally, I'm very happy because I want my friends to do well,
and for me, it's great news
that I'm going to share many more years with him,
and, hopefully, we can keep achieving things.
Did you see him today when you came back from international duty?
Was he more excited than usual?
No, I couldn't see him because I got back later than him.
But I'll see him tomorrow or the day after,
and I'll congratulate him,
because it's also a great prize to stay at Barça.
Okay, Dani, now let's join the stars of our web chat.
They are your followers, who have gone online,
and thanks to Google+ can talk to us now.
Antonio de la Mora, it's time for your first question.
First of all, hello, Dani.
-It's a pleasure. -The pleasure is mine.
I want to ask you how many tattoos you have.
I don't think we have enough time to count them.
-Approximately. -That would take a while.
It depends how you count them.
If you count a whole arm as one, then I have about six.
If you count them all individually,
then more than 15, for sure.
Is there any one in particular
-which means more to you? -Yes.
My children's names. I love them more than anything.
And this was a way I thought of
to have them even closer, if that's possible.
And having their names tattooed on my body
makes that the most special meaning
of all the tattoos I have.
Thank you, Antonio de la Mora.
-Stay there. -Thank you.
We'll come back to you soon for more questions.
But now we'll go to Brazil, so you feel closer to home.
Hey Dani. How is it going? Carnaval is nearly here.
Vinicious, go on!
-Carnaval is the biggest party! -Carnaval starts on Friday down here.
Ok, so the question I have for you
is I am sure you have heard about the Maracanaço back in 1950.
Do you have any concerns that it may happen again in 2014?
No, I think that I have hopes of living a moment like that
but with a different ending, and not a concern, or fear,
of reliving what happened in that World Cup back then.
The hope surpassed over this small inaccurate news report,
this bad story for all of us Brazilians.
And I hope that next time the outcome will be a different one.
I am sure it will be. We will be there at the "Maraca".
One moment, so the rest of the fans can understand.
He asked about the World Cup in Brazil 2014,
-Yes, yes. -and the memory of Maracanaço.
Does that put pressure on you as Brazil players?
And what I tried to tell him was
that it's not a very good memory,
but we're not afraid that it will happen again,
we want to play another a match like that in the Maracaná,
but with a different result, with a happy ending.
Because the last ending was very sad for all Brazilians.
Now we say "see you later" to Vinicious, you can tell him to stay there.
Now, it's Juanfran Bautista.
-Go ahead. -Hello, everyone.
-Hi, Dani. -Good evening.
After winning every club trophy possible, with Barça and Sevilla,
how do you maintain your hunger and not get complacent?
I think winning is a good habit.
When you are used to winning and being competitive,
when you're born like that, it's difficult not to win.
It's very difficult not winning.
Sometimes, the more you've won,
winning as many titles as we have,
the pain of losing is enormous.
But, luckily, we have a team of champions,
a group of winners, people with that spirit.
But it is also a group which knows
that winning, drawing or losing is part of our sport.
We have to know how to win, draw and lose.
I think that's something unique about this club.
We know how to win, draw and lose.
If we lose, the opponent deserves credit,
and we always respect that.
Thank you, Juanfran.
I hope you liked the answer.
We'll come back to you for another question, but now we go over to China
to say hello to Miao Li Xiang.
-Hello, good evening. -Miao!
-Yes, yes. -Go ahead.
My question is:
When you saw China in 2010
during the Barça tour in Beijing,
did you like the country?
Have you thought of playing in the Chinese league,
like your ex-teammate Seydou Keita?
I was there, I loved the country.
The country is making wonderful progress.
It's getting better with time.
And you can never say never in this life.
At the moment, I'm fine, and I'm happy
and intend to continue here,
but I'm not ruling out any possibility in the future.
I'm passionate about the football,
independent of the culture and the place.
So you always have to leave the doors open.
-Thank you. -Thank you, Miao.
Let's got to Sandra Colom, from Barcelona.
Good evening, Sandra. Let's hear your question.
Actually, I'm in Madrid and my question is to do with
being a Catalan living in Madrid.
-What I miss most is the sea. -Move!
What do you miss most about Brazil?
To tell the truth, I miss the people the most.
My friends and family.
I have a lot of family there.
I have what I love most here, which is my kids,
but I don't have the other part and that's what I miss.
But they know I do everything for them
and my whole life is for them.
So they respect me and they come to visit.
And I go and visit them whenever I can.
-Thank you, Sandra. -Thank you.
Come back to Barcelona soon, to the sea you miss so much.
I hope so…
Now to Indonesia, and Imanuel.
Hello, Imanuel. Welcome.
Before you came to Barça, who was your favourite player?
There's a player who has been and always will be my idol,
and that's Cafu,
for his career as a footballer, for his principles
and his professionalism, for everything.
I've always admired him, as well as many other players.
But if I have to choose one,
he was, still is, will be,
and always will be, my all-time favourite.
-Cafu? -Cafu.
Any other player?
Yes, there are lots,
it would take a long time to name them now.
But for all he gave to us Brazilians, I'd say Ronaldo.
-Ronaldo. -Yes.
We're going now to China,
because this Sunday is Chinese New Year
which for them is the Year of the Snake.
And they are very interested,
because there are millions of Barça fans in China,
they might like a New Year greeting from us.
We've had ours, but this is their big party,
and it's this Sunday.
Hello, everyone,
I hope you can have a big party.
Happy New Year to you all.
We've had ours, now it's your turn.
I hope it's as happy as ours.
I would love to be there at the New Year party, but they won't let me,
so I can only wish you all a Happy New Year.
I don't know how to say it in Chinese, but never mind.
Happy New Year.
The match is at 12 o'clock.
At 7pm in China, they can see Barça vs. Getafe. A bit earlier for us.
Are you prepared for that to play a league match at 12 o'clock?
It's not a problem because of the kick-off time.
It's fine. We like playing football.
We don't mind what time it is.
And if we can give the Barça fans
a big match to enjoy for their New Year party, that's even better.
That way, their new year starts well and let's hope we keep winning.
The fans from China, from Tencent Weibo,
which is a social network in China, have sent in lots of questions.
We can't do them all, but we have two from fans on Tencent Weibo.
First, *** Bo asks: "What kind of person are you,
…in your personal, day to day life?"
I'm very straightforward and easy-going.
I'm much more relaxed than I am in my professional life.
I'm a friend to my friends.
There are lots of things I love doing.
I can't mention them now, because we wouldn't have time.
But most of all, I'm much more relaxed.
The professional Dani is nothing like the personal Dani.
I'm very straightforward, I don't have problems with anyone.
But on the pitch is where I do my work,
so for that, I don't kill, but I do fight.
Another question from China is:
"Do you have hobbies off the pitch?"
Yes, I have quite a lot.
But I can't tell you all of them.
I play the guitar,
I ride my bicycle.
It's risky, but…
I can't tell you the rest, they'll kick me out of the club!
And are you good at the guitar? I'm curious to know.
Are you good at music?
Because I live alone,
nobody listens to me or complains, so, yeah, I'm amazing!
-Do the neighbors ever call? -No, they're too far away to listen.
One day, you must give us a concert.
Definitely.
Now let's have the second round of questions.
It's Antonio de la Mora, and his second question for Dani Alves. Go on.
Hello, again. This is a more professional question.
You've been able to experience the best period at Barça and at club level,
but not with the Brazil team. Do you think Brazil will return soon
as one of the best teams in world?
Well, I've had the good fortune,
call it what you like,
to be part of this club in the best years of the club,
and I've had wonderful experiences
with the Brazil team too.
It's obvious we're not having our best moment
in terms of football,
but we have many qualities and players,
and our aim is to reach the Confederations Cup,
we have a team and group which can compete for that competition,
knowing that the main objective is the World Cup,
which we still have to organize.
We miss out on the competition of the qualification rounds,
and the feeling of competing.
We compete well in friendlies, but they're still friendlies.
To have a real team we need to be able to compete.
We have a chance now in the Confederations Cup,
to show people that we're a good team
that people can get excited about, because we will fight
and make life hard for other teams at the world cup in Brazil.
-Thank you, Antonio. -Thank you.
-Good luck. -Thanks, Antonio.
Let's go to Brazil. You liked Vinicious.
Vinicious, go ahead.
Well, another question for you. Now that you have been in Europe
for some time and acquired an enormous life experience there…
If you had the chance to go back in time, 20 years in the past
and meet the little boy Dani Alves from Juazeiro, with only nine years old.
What kind of advice would you give him?
Do it all over again.
Because I think that what I have been through,
the difficulties, the good things, and the bad things…
Helped me in becoming the man I am today. To appreciate things.
And considering all the difficulties I had to overcome to get where I am today,
if I had to go back in time,
I would do it with no problems as the final result is something beautiful.
Even though a lot of people don’t like me,
I think I also made a lot of people happy, for me that is what matters the most.
Vinicius was asking you which message you would like to give back
to the people of Juazeiro?
-Do I pronounce it right? Juazeiro? -Yes, Juazeiro.
And you answered him, but I did not understand, I am sorry.
It was a clear message.
No, he asked me if I could go back 20 years in time,
and meet myself with nine years old.
And what kind of advice would I give to the nine year old Dani.
And I answered: "Do it all over again".
Because as I explained to him, due to all the difficulties,
the good and bad moments that I have been through in my life taught me
how to appreciate a lot of things and helped me get where I am today.
And make a lot people happy. And that for me is priceless.
So if I could advise the young nine year old Dani, I would say.
Do it all over again Just in the same way I did it.
-Thank you very much. -Thank you.
-Thank you. -Thank you.
Now we go to Juanfran. Juanfran go ahead.
Hello again, Dani.
After so many years living here in Spain, and more specifically in Barcelona,
what is it that you like the most of the City?
-Well, the food. -The food?
The food is one of the best things in Barcelona.
We have the world’s best chefs here. And luckily, I have been able to enjoy
some of their food. Well, it is something…
My mouth starts watering…
What do you like the most? Tapas, paellas?
I like the different kind of cuisine. The design cuisine.
I like people who invent things and they let me try, and it is all delicious.
-All well fed. Juanfran, thank you. -Goodbye, thank you.
Thank you. Miao!
-Hi! -Miao! Sounds…
Sounds like a cat! Miao!
First of all, I would like to thank you for greeting our new year. Thank you.
How do you say that in Chinese?
-Very, very good! -Incredible…
And my second question is a simple one:
who is your best friend in the locker room?
Ah, no. I have many.
You always have one who you are able to identify most with.
And since my arrival in this club, so many people have made me feel welcome.
But no, honestly I cannot point to one person and say ‘He is my best friend’.
All my teammates are great, I appreciate all of them.
And from my point of view, they are all remarkable, because they are people
with such worldwide importance, so much fame, and at the same time
are so simple, it is really difficult to find elsewhere.
-Thank you, Miao. -Thank you.
Thank you, Miao!
Sandra?
Sandra, go ahead.
My second question is:
What is your best footballing memory?
With Barça or with the National Team?
-It doesn’t matter. -It doesn’t matter?
Look, I am from Bahia, and in Bahia we have very hot pepper that stings a lot.
My best moment with Barça, was when I scored against Real Madrid.
-At the Supercopa? -Yes.
When we were equal on two goals. That was my best moment here.
-Very good. -Such a great goal!
Thanks, Sandra. Have a good time in Madrid!
Not at all, thank you.
And that is why I am choosing this moment now.
It was with a lot of merit. "Olé"!
-Well yes. -Thank you. See you next time.
What do you do before a match? How do you get yourself ready?
Well, we all have our personal ritual. And before going out to the pitch
I usually go to the locker room.
Listen to some music, dance a bit to get the body moving…
And I always start to get dressed from the left foot,
ending with the right foot.
And when I enter the pitch, I always do it with the right foot.
But that is just my habit. Just my habit.
I am being told that Vinicius has another question, is that ok?
Another question from Brazil.
We are trying to make you feel at home.
Vinicius. Go ahead.
Thank you very much.
Dani, today Spain is of one the favorites to win this year’s Conferations Cup
-as well as the 2014 World Cup, right? -Correct.
Today, you are playing with more than half of the Spanish National Team in Barça.
Do you think you can provide some important ‘information’ to Felipão
that can help Brazil stop the Spanish menace?
Absolutely. I know all my teammates pretty well.
I have been living with them for a long time here.
And I believe that one of the virtues of our National Team is
that every time we are not favorites, the prize is always bigger in the end.
And I hope it continues like this. And even if it wasn’t like this
It would not be the Brazilian way to get things done.
They are in a fantastic moment. They have improved a lot
Their game has developed a great deal. And we are getting there…
We have a couple of amazing opportunities. In our country, with our people,
which also transforms into official competitions.
To always support the National Team is very demanding,
but I think we can pull it off, being Brazilians.
And I am sure all Brazilians will have a positive response.
I believe he asked you about the Spanish National Team, right?
That there are many players from Barça who are part of the
team selected by Vicente del Bosque, without exaggerating nine players,
who were in Qatar, but in fact could have been ten, but Xavi did not go.
I am not sure if he asked you about who is favorite.
Whether Brazil, or Spain will go as the main favorite for the World Cup.
Yes, but also if I could help our Team with some information
about the Spanish players.
And I answered that ‘Yes I could’, as I know them all.
And if they ask me, I will give a very detailed report.
And he also asked about how the Spanish National Team
is the favorite to win the World Cup and the Confederations Cup.
And how we would deal with this situation.
And I said that, funny enough, every time Brazil enters a competition and is
not the favorite, we get a good final result.
So let’s hope things don’t change,
especially when we are playing both of these competitions at home.
First is the Confederations Cup this summer and then the World Cup.
-So there is work to do. -Yes, there is work…
There is work, and we accept the challenge ahead.
Well, with Brazil, even if they are not on their best moment,
they are always a candidate.
Well, it is time to say goodbye.
Let me see: Antonio de la Mora, Vinicius, Juanfran,
Miao, Sandra and Imanuel. Thanks everyone.
Thanks for this web chat.
We have to go now, but just one quick question.
I want to ask about Milan in the Champions League
and the second leg of the Cup game against Madrid.
How do you feel? Very briefly, Dani.
I'm excited. One is this month, and the other too.
Our hopes of reaching the finals
are decided in games like these.
Because we like competition and we thrive on it,
they're matches we love to play and compete for.
This is what we've fought for,
to be playing games like these
and to reach this stage of the competition and to obtain the title.
We'll try, as always, to put FC Barcelona where they deserve to be.
-Okay. Thank you, Dani. -Thanks.
I hope you had a good time.
-I had a great time. -I hope you're not tired.
Yesterday you were in London, and you trained today.
-Tomorrow you need to rest. -Exactly.
-Thanks for the effort. -Anything for the "culés".
Okay. Thank you, everyone for taking part in this video chat,
made possible by Google+ and the Hangout tool.
Thank you, everyone for taking part in this video chat,
made possible by Google+ and the Hangout tool.
See you soon. Thank you. Until next time.
