- Well, good afternoon everyone. We'll first start making questions to the captain, Carlos Marchena. Right, questions for Carlos Marchena, please.
-Carlos, good morning. Yesterday, Juan Mata stated that he was absolutely sure that the Valencia would pass the qualifying round. Do you think the same?
Good morning everyone. We all have to be convinced and have the intention to pass the qualifying round.
It would be no good to get to the field with a negative attitude;47
we must be convinced to win the opponent team. So, we’re all in a positive mood and convinced that we can achieve it.
Over 40,000 tickets have already been sold. Does this mean that the audience is certain the team can pass?
I think this year the Valencia is in good terms with the audience, and I wish we could all have a nice match tomorrow with a positive result for us.
-Will Moyá be playing tomorrow?
I’m sure that the performance will be excellent with either Moyá or César playing in the goalkeeper’s area.
Are you worried about the fact that if Moyá does not play, it would mean his knock down?
The only important thing is to have the goalkeeper’s area firmly defended.
-Have you already made up your mind?
Whoever plays, he will make a good performance.
-Is Moyá psychologically ready to play? -Both Moyá and César are ready to play.
-Taking into account the bad situation of the team due to the many injured players, have you ever thought of having Villa and Zigic together in the field so that the team becomes more offensive, or wouldn’t it be suitable?
It could be. It might be at the beginning or during the match… if we’d pass the qualifying round tomorrow, and in a hypothetic situation where we would win the final competition and become the winners of the Europe League,
I think that's good for everyone. I have never stopped to think whether it's exclusively good or bad for me.
Unai, if we’d ask you one Friday morning whether César will be playing or not, would you answer us?
I don’t usually talk about the line-up… it’s one of my habits since I started to train. Even the players know about it.
I don’t usually talk about the line-up… it’s one of my habits since I started to train. Even the players know about it.
One thing is that it might be guessed because it’d be very obvious, but I officially reveal it one hour and a half before, in the changing room.
-Your goalkeeper in the League is César, is he or not?
Both of them are. Moyá was the first one to start, then César… and they’re both playing. My main concern is that they're both well trained so that the one who plays tomorrow defends the goal area properly.
Today it's been leaked that the goalkeeper will not be Moyá. Is that true? Well, I think I’ve been clear enough. So, with your question, if I wouldn’t have been clear, I would have been lying.
Unai, could there be some kind of parallelism between last year goalkeepers: Guaita was the UEFA´s goalkeeper, and after his so many bad performances in certain matches you chose César for the match vs the Dinamo Kiev. Could it be the same this year?
Well, I think more than 40% of the questions have been about César and Moyá!
I think the best thing is to behave in a natural way, just for the goalkeepers' and the Valencia’s own good. I think it's important to forget those situations that would not help us tomorrow.
The goalkeeper who will be playing tomorrow will make his best, and we must support him, no matter whether it’s Moyá or César, and the least we talk about it, the best for the Valencia.
Just in a return League match in Santander, we repeatedly asked you about the goalkeepers situation,
and it seemed that Moyá had lost his position as first team player in César’s benefit. Is this the current situation in the present competition?
We’re 24 players, 11 on the field. The goalkeeper area is a very specific place, but it’s no more than a place on the field.
So if tomorrow there’s any change compared to the match on Monday, you could also ask about that, but we’re insisting on a punctual situation.
So I think we shouldn’t add any kind of negative pressure neither on César nor on Moyá, because the goalkeeper will play a great match.
Tomorrow, one hour and a half before, we’ll officially state our decision, speaking freely about who the center forward player or the goalkeeper will be.
-Thanks everyone.
