The actual shaking itself... I thought somebody was
waking me up or something, and then when, obviously it was much, much stronger
than that.
Like a wood-frame building creaking and
glass breaking, things falling down ...it's a very loud
experience. There's this uh, fear that you get deep down inside your chest.
Your heart's pounding. It's uh... it's quite
an experience. Immediately after the earthquake
I had like a quick priority list, first make sure my girlfriend Anna was okay,
her daughter was fine. Then I wanted to go to my dad's house which was a few
blocks away,
make sure his gas was shut off. He had a rental house a few blocks away from
there.
We then went to that house next, make sure that gas was shut-off,
and those three things were pretty much the only three things I did first.
And then I said "Okay, I'm ready to go to the hospital."
