A very important part of the VJX16-4 video mixer: the output programs
which, as well as being numerous, are completely configurable.
In fact, where you would normally find a PGM A/B output and a preview output,
here you have 3 output programmes: PGM OUT1, OUT2 and OUT3
on which you are free to display what you want.
This function again demonstrates the video mixer’s versatility
which adapts to your projection or recording needs.
For each output program there are 3 differents modes:
MASTER, PREVIEW and AUTO-PREVIEW.
Master1 and Master2 are very similar, we’ll see later how they differentiate.
In master mode, a program displays your final video production.
At any time you can switch your 3 PGM to master mode
each program has a pair of outputs,
it means that your result can be displayed on six screens.
The second mode available is the PREVIEW mode
This mode enables you to send a video track to an output.
You just need to keep holding down the output button in question
and choose the track on the first line of the multitask pad.
By pressing for example button OUT2 and the first line of track 1
then track 1 is sent to the OUT 2 program.
Thanks to this function you can now make a multiscreen projection.
For example, for a concert with 3 video projectors
you can configure the 2 lateral screens in preview mode
and display a different camera on each of them,
while the central screen is in master mode and displays your 4 tracks Master PGM.
Another example during a conference,
you can easily display powerpoint or keynote on a live screen in preview mode.
At the same time, by configuring your 2 others outputs programs in master mode,
you can create a multi-cam production,
and broadcast it on 3 others screens in the room, all whilst recording it.
The last output mode is called auto-preview.
Like the preview mode it only shows one production track at a time.
The difference with preview mode is that you just need to press the Select key
on one of the tracks for this to appear on the output.
This mode is an archetypal preview for the operator.
So before sending a track in the final production,
you just need to press Select to view this track without it being broadcast in the mix.
Also, when you change a track’s input,
this one appears instantly on this output in auto-preview mode.
Significantly, switching outputs’ mode is made without skipping images.
You can change your output modes live: you won’t see any glitches or latency,
which facilitates dynamic productions on 3 screens.
The last mode, called Battle Mode
facilitates the production of 2 different mixes simultaneously.
You can activate this mode from the menu.
You switch from compositing mode (which is the standard mix mode of the 4 production tracks) to battle mode.
In this mode, you have 2 video mixers with 2 tracks and 8 inputs.
Track 1 and 2 of the mixer produce an A/B mix which is sent to the MASTER 1 output
and tracks 3 and 4 a 2nd mix which is sent to the Master 2.
So, you can benefit from 2 standard A/B mixers in just 1 mixer.
