Hi I'm Steve Jones and I'm going to look at who invented Geometry. Well we know that geometry
is a very old science, in fact the oldest of the sciences. And it was not formalized
until Euclid the Greek actually put in and created axiomatic forms and rules to create
a geometry. After that it was used to solve all kinds of problems, not just in geometry,
but in other branches of mathematics. And that for centuries until Descartes used the
idea of coordinate geometry where he used what was basically a development of algebra
to create a new form of calculating geometry. This coordinate geometry was virtually able
to replace most of the Euclidian forms, and has developed from that day to this. Even
today we still use other forms of geometry and other forms of coordinate geometry and
we give them new names like string theory. So modern string theory revelates right back
to the earliest of the geometries.
