These crocks that we are looking at today we are going to take a look at this one in
particular this is a Whately crock here and you could see that it is signed and script
which is very rare to find. Most of the crocks that you would find are stamped like this
from a stamp a uniform stamp. But this was signed probably by Maria Crafts Kellogg put
here her husband signature on here during the time frame that she was a potter producing
these pots in around the 1851-1853 period. You can see it has a women's touch to it with
the decorations it is highly stylize with flowers and sometimes there is one on a particular
book that this man wrote about Whateley crocks that has a dove on it. Which is not unusual
with this type.
