All university faculty staff and students have an account
allowing them to log into Blackboard.
However there are times when someone not affiliated with the university
needs access to a course or organization. In this case you
sponsor a guest and create a user name for them.
This can be done at id.unl.edu.
Log in with MyUNL or ldap username and password.
Select manage or create guest account.
Select create sponsored guest.
There you will need to enter the name and email address of each person you are sponsoring.
Once you do that the user will receive an email telling them you have sponsored
as a guet at UNL.
And they will have to click on a link to claim their account their password.
Their entire email address will be become their user name and they set
their password at this step.
It is important that they remember their password,
otherwise they’ll have to call the help center to have it reset.
The morning after the user claims their account they will become active in Blackboard.
And at that point you can enroll them or organization.
Guest accounts are active for 6 months.
After 6 months you can return id.unl.edu
to manage their account.
A guest may be sponsored for a period of 6 months
and they may be renewed one time.
If someone needs a guest account for longer than 12 months,
they need to be sponsored by your department as an affiliate in SAP
or some other arrangment needs to be made.
Your departmental HR staff can begin the affiliate paperwork
working with payroll to begin this process if needed.
