Welcome to Mortal Online
When choosing your character, there are four main race families, with a total of nine races.
The blood mix system allows you to choose different ancestry
by selecting your character's grandparents or parents.
Your racial mix and age determine the maximum possible attributes
that your character can have.
You are given some points to allocate to your attributes to start with.
In the bottom right hand corner of the screen
you can see what effect these attributes have
on things like your health, carrying ability and speed.
Next choose your starting location.
All starting towns except for Gaul'Kor have guards which protect players.
When trying to enter the game, if Enter does not work,
just press save and exit to the character selection screen.
Mortal Online is First Person View only.
Press H to bring up the in-game manual and help tips.
To see your character's attributes and paperdoll, press P.
Pressing I will open your inventory.
To view your skills, press L.
Press O to open the spell book
- you cannot cast these unless you have trained up the right magic skills
and acquired the necessary reagents.
To move you need to press Z to get out of mouse mode.
Use the WASD keys to move, and the mouse to turn.
Holding down shift will allow you to sprint,
and Control will enable you to walk instead of jogging.
Press space to bar to jump
and X to enter in and out of combat mode.
There are two types of skills, primary and secondary skills,
all capped at 100.
You have 1000 primary skill points, and unlimited secondary skill points.
You'll notice that my character has spawned without full health.
In order to regenerate,
use the resting skill, which is found in Technique.
Drag the skill to the hotbar in order to use it.
By using a skill you will improve in it.
In order make your way in the world, you will need to gather materials.
Each character is equipped with a starter axe and rags.
These will respawn with you if you die.
However, your starter axe can be stolen from your inventory,
so it's better to keep it equipped when you can.
Starter axes can be replaced by a GM,
but any one handed weapon can be used to gather resources.
To equip your axe, press I to open your inventory,
and right click on the axe icon.
Next, put the gathering skills on your hotbar.
These are found in Technique.
In order to use the skill, press X to draw your axe,
face the resource node you wish to use, and press the hotkey.
Your gathering skills will increase the more you use them.
When you have gathered some resources,
you can start learning to make weapons.
To do so, you need a workbench.
You can identify the type of workbench you want by looking at the items lying on top of it.
At first you will only be able to craft weapons out of very basic materials.
The more you craft,
the more your weapon crafting ability and your material knowledge will increase,
unlocking better materials.
To craft your weapon, face the workbench and press Tab.
Press R to bring up the crafting menu.
Drag your material into the empty slot and choose the type of weapon you want.
Then press Create.
Your weapon will be placed in your inventory.
Now that my character has a bow, I will want some arrows.
Find the arrow vendor,
press tab to target him, and press R to bring up the trade window.
In order to buy arrows I will need to sell the wood I have.
I can split stacks in my inventory by pressing shift and left click.
In order to place a stack in the trade window, I then right click on it.
The amount of silver the vendor will give me for the wood
is shown on the bottom right of the trade window.
I then shift and left click on the arrow icon,
and enter how many arrows I want.
Then I press accept.
