That's where we do our milling.
We grind to cook for the whole family.
On this stone.
We use this and add our Shea Butter.
We knead it
so it is soft
then we add water and take it
Then we are all right. It keeps us strong. :)
It's a song for mostly orphans
like singing it.
That mama you are not there
If you were there I would not be grinding myself.
Yeah
It's not only the economical but the socialization.
You can see the way she was dancing
You can see the way she was dancing
and singing
That before then she would always be indoors and all that.
But now she comes out and joins her colleagues.
We sing, we dance, we work together.
My name is Gifty Adongo Atiah.
I am a secretary of the Ojoba Woman's Group in Bongo Soe.
And I'm going to take you through how we make Shea Butter here today.
Thank You :)
When we want to start production we make sure we wash the nuts.
Because we have kept it for so long
we need to wash it and get every ornidate particle out of it.
Then when we finish washing like this we will dry it to make sure all the water is evaporating.
This is the washed nuts.
It's now ready for crushing.
This is how we roast our nuts.
Then this is solar.
So after we roast the nuts like this we take it back to the mill.
And then mill it into paste.
In the paste form.
And here is our paste.
We are now going to knead and that is exactly what the women are doing.
They are kneading it like this.
We have a machine that we use for kneading
but
we realized that the manual kneading will get more butter than the machine.
These ladies you see at the middle with water.
They will be using the water; the water will determine whether it is getting ready.
We realize that it is no more looking brown. But it is becoming white.
That one is getting ready.
This is the point where we put it on fire.
All the water will evaporate.
Then we'll get our butter separate from the residue.
We'll put it down. It will cool.
We strain it to make sure that all particles are removed.
We cool it. Then we parcel for export.
This is the final stage of production.
We are parceling the butter for export.
Thank You =)
