Hi then I am sitting in the blind I have my GoPro camera mounted course I am out shooting
I have an owl up here and a stuffed magpie up as well
I have got some requests concerning the technique on the crow call mostly the FT
We have the FT2 and the FT3 crow call And there is not any difference
between the two calls other than the construction is a little bit different. The sound and the
technique are totally the same No different what so ever
Before you start using the call you must check if the call is OK
and there have been no damages. The first thing you do is to check the mouth piece and body for cracks
Put your finger inside a see that the piece is free of cracks
If the call is OK then you are ready to begin
I will now tell you have to use the call
It is very important that you don´t make the sound with your mouth or with your throat
The sound must come from the stomach
You will have to imagine that you have been out running
Doing some hard work Or just dragged a big stalk out the woods
If I am a little bit unconcentrated because I can hear a crow calling
What you have to make sure - is that the air comes from the lower part of the stomach
When you can do that or everybody can do that
Then try to put some sound on
Relax in the lips as more you relax the deeper the sound will be
When you have done that some times and you start to relax the lips
Then some vibrations begins in your head And you get a little bit dizzy
When you have practised this and the sound comes from the stomach
Then you get the sound from the vibrations of the lips
Then try to do this with the call
In the beginning you should not concentrate to get any volume in the call at all
Just concentrate to get a smooth and deep sound
As deeper as more to work with
Hold the call in your hand
I just think I saw a shadow
As you can see it is the pressure from the diaphragm that pushes the air up
When you can make a deep sound you can try to hold it for longer time
Then it is time to use the hand or fingers
I will recommend that you hold the call Like a funnel
Then you can work with your fingers to a variation of the sound
As more open the sound will be higher And more closed the sound will be deeper
You can do different thinks with the fingers Then you can vary the tonation
The basis call is done as shown before (blow gently- gently)
I recommend that you work with this first And get used to make the deep sound
Now we will try with the use of our fingers up and down
And listen to the difference in the tonation
When you have reached this level
It is time to make the crows sounds
If we just make the common contact call then it sounds like this
Slowly two, three or four times
This I will recommend you to use
Do not concentrate on the volume Even if the call doesn´t sound very high
Get a friend to stand 50 to 100 yards away and listen
Now I will turn on the camera course I hear a magpie
We try some more calling Don´t know if you can hear the magpie
The four contact calls if you want more aggressive like a crow just
seen a predator as a fox or owl the sounds has to come a little bit
I try to make this call
I wonder where the magpie went?
Hope it will turn up
Just to make a short brush up Don´t use the throat or mouth
Make some deep air push from the lower part of the stomach
Make the lips a little bit moisty
Then put the call to the lips
Use the fingers or hand to make the tonation
That was that Now I will see if any crows turn up
I hope so or I might get the magpie Now I can hear a crow
Thanks for watching
