First I want to thank the West Hollywood Community
for allowing us to do spectacular events like today
I would like to thank the mayor and the city council for all of their work
in the last couple of years working on the lawsuit,
working to overturn the Prop 8. and to allow today's marriages to happen.
With us today we have Dean Logan the LA County Registrar - Recorder
He's been a super hero, he and his staff have been working with us this weekend
to coordinate today's same sex marriage activities. I especially want to thank from my staff
Corey Schaffer, the City Clerk, who has also put in alot of energy,
our facilities team, our special events team who pulled together today's event,
all of the council offices, the council deputies, especially Michelle Rex who was working with us
on pulling together some of the collateral material. So on behalf of West Hollywood City Hall
I want to thank all of you for working with us today, for participating today and cooperating with us,
especially the media. I know that there were some logistical issues and you are all true sports for
working with us. So at this point we are going to go down to the floor
where we are going to be sworn in. I'm going to hand the microphone to our wonderful
mayor Abbe land. Thank you. (applause)
Great, thank you. And so Dean Thank you so much for coming down and for all your help.
We truly appreciate it, and we are excited to be sworn in, and excited to start performing
marriage ceremonies. So let me join my colleagues And the city staff will be sworn in? Great.
And take it away.
Great, Well good afternoon and thank you very much. It's my great honor as the County Clerk of
Los Angeles and the Commissioner of Civil Marriages to deputize you to perform civil marriage ceremonies
It's been an exciting day in Norwalk, we had alot of people there, and a great number of people here
So let's just move forward so we can get you all signed up and get on with the ceremonies.
So if you would all please raise your right hand, and repeat after me,
"I state your name,(all state their names)
Do solemly swear or affirm (all repeat)
That I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States. (All repeat)
and the Constitution of the State of California (all repeat)
against all enemies foreign and domestic (all repeat)
