Alright, today I'm going to be starting to work on the garage a little bit on my house.
I'm going to show you how to build the garage doors,
and little tips on the tiling that I'll be doing in the....
Actually I should say more the concrete work.
But one of the things that I'll be using is these smooth tiles.
I'm going to be tiling here,
I'm going to tile through this doorway,
and on this patio.
That will probably be the only things I'll be tiling at the moment right now.
I'm not going to be tiling out here because I'm not sure how I'm going to do my driveway.
I don't know what I'm going to do about the front porch yet.
So one of the things that we're going to be mostly focusing is the garage.
So one of the things that we're going to be mostly focusing is the garage.
So one of the things that we're going to be mostly focusing is the garage.
This tutorial is about how to build the garage.
Now you've seen some Creator kits on how they do it, but we're going to do something a little fancier.
We're going to do a two-car garage
with an entry door on the back patio.
with an entry door on the back patio.
Now let's get started.
There are lots of ways you can tile this. If you have a square ... any tiles will do.
Since I'm using a broken up base plate, I have to do it kind of special.
So I'm starting to tile like this.
So I'm also just going to offset these.
So I'm also just going to offset these.
It helps when you have a whole entire can,
a Folgers can, of smooth tiles.
I got lots of colors and stuff.
This really comes to be handy.
So if you notice I just grab a piece and I start tiling like crazy.
I came across....
Which is weird because I have these.
I've never had 2 by 4 tiles before so that's kind of unique for me.
I'll save those for something special.
I also have some that are kind of a little different grey which I'm trying to remove those right now because I want it all to match.
I also have some that are kind of a little different grey which I'm trying to remove those right now because I want it all to match.
I have two different types of grey. I got the new grey and the old grey,
and I like to use the new grey on this.
So basically just start tiling in.
So basically just start tiling in.
Now when it comes to here under the door,
we're just going to put in some tiles right here.
Remember what I told you about the door.
I like it to be smooth underneath.
So you can see the door opens up, its all smooth there.
So you can see the door opens up, its all smooth there.
So you can see the door opens up, its all smooth there.
It looks more finished.
And on the back patio,
I might do a design back here.
I am not sure about this.
So and also when you come in front of the garage, just remember to tile under the doors.
So and also when you come in front of the garage, just remember to tile under the doors.
You don't have to do it in this method.
So let's get started on the tiling shall we.
Okay so we got this all tiled in.
I've got my back patio done.
As you noticed, it's all smooth from here to outside.
As you noticed, it's all smooth from here to outside.
A lot of flat tiles.
It took a lot. I mean I thought I was going to run out of the these. I came close.
Now we are to worry about the placement of doors and windows.
I was lucky to have these old-school, they look like screen doors. Security door things.
I'm just going to put one in the garage inside here for the kitchen.
I'm just going to put one in the garage inside here for the kitchen.
Now we got one door in place.
I'm just going to use this classic style white door for outside off the pack patio.
I'm just going to use this classic style white door for outside off the pack patio.
So that's how it's going to go.
Windows.
Now I don't want to waste windows like I'm planning on using these with the shutters for outside my house.
Now I don't want to waste windows like I'm planning on using these with the shutters for outside my house.
Now I don't want to waste windows like I'm planning on using these with the shutters for outside my house.
But I don't want to waste them on my garage.
I'm just going to use these standard flap-style windows with the glass in them.
I'm just going to use these standard flap-style windows with the glass in them.
Now where do I put them at? Well you don't want to just flood the whole garage out with windows.
It's just a waste time.
So I'm going to come in here and stick these windows like this.
Kind of line them up with the garage.
There you have it.
Now what do we do?
Well this is the easy part.
I'm going to start coming in
and start building up the walls.
So that's basically where I'm going to start at. So I'm just start building up the walls,
and work up to the point were we get ready to install the garage doors.
And I'll show you how to build those.
Okay, well I got part of the garage built.
Okay, well I got part of the garage built.
I got a mess here but it's part of the construction process.
I got a mess here but it's part of the construction process.
Now I didn't get that far on here just for the fact that I'm going to put the doors in next,
Now I didn't get that far on here just for the fact that I'm going to put the doors in next,
and we're going to be making a pivot hinge like this.
and we're going to be making a pivot hinge like this.
I will show you how to do one of these.
The supplies you're really going to need
is one of these little ....
The cam is not doing its job.
These little connector things.
These little connector things.
One of these hole things with one one hole in it and one with the two holes.
One of these hole things with one one hole in it and one with the two holes.
So what we're going to do is we're going to put this together.
So one of the things that I'm going to do is stick this peg in this hole here.
So one of the things that I'm going to do is stick this peg in this hole here.
Something like that.
Of course this goes here in the one hole.
Of course this goes here in the one hole.
You noticed they're offset.
Now I have a whole bunch these made for the hinges.
Now I have a whole bunch these made for the hinges.
I have one here that's kind of an oddball because I didn't have enough of the white ones.
I have one here that's kind of an oddball because I didn't have enough of the white ones.
So one thing we're going to do, we're going to put the door on there.
Well you have to make a right and a left one.
Just stick them on there like that.
I'm hoping I'm putting these in the right place.
Now when it comes, now I've seen the Creator kits there they actually bolt these right on the edge here.
Now when it comes, now I've seen the Creator kits there they actually bolt these right on the edge here.
I don't like that.
Take one of these inverted slope pieces. I stick them right here.
Take one of these inverted slope pieces. I stick them right here.
And I had another one that I've lost that goes over here.
And I had another one that I've lost that goes over here.
Now I've never made a two-car garage before so this is an experiment for me too.
Making a garage door is real easy.
Just a couple of these 6 by 8 base plate,
Just a couple of these 6 by 8 base plate,
Just a couple of these 6 by 8 base plate,
and one of these weird looking plate things with a little thing at the end.
and one of these weird looking plate things with a little thing at the end.
and one of these weird looking plate things with a little thing at the end.
So I'm going to have to have a gap at the bottom,
and I'm just going to take some red tiles and tile this.
and I'm just going to take some red tiles and tile this.
I'm going to cover the whole door up.
You can put a design on this if you want.
I'm just going to make a simple tiled piece.
I'm just going to make a simple tiled piece.
Just cover the whole thing up.
But you know, I didn't have enough of the long ones so I to just just have to improvise.
But you know, I didn't have enough of the long ones so I to just just have to improvise.
And there we have it.
And there we have it.
A complete garage door.
Now once you get that bolted on your eyelet things,
sometimes you're going to have to adjust these.
So, with this being installed,
it's just simply putting this door on here. Now the point is where to put the door at?
it's just simply putting this door on here. Now the point is where to put the door at?
I have to play around with it a few times. So just basically....
This thing is going to be problems. Let's just pull this off.
This thing is going to be problems. Let's just pull this off.
Flip it on the back
I come one space down at first.
Stick it here.
It looks something like that.
Take this one off here.
I wish I had more of them white ones but I do not.
Mhm.
Should look something like that.
Then I'm going to simply set this in here.
Now these things will probably be tweaked up a few times.
Now I'm going to see if it actually opens up.
There you have it.
One garage door.
Now as you notice this thing does this.
That's not what I want to do,
and one of the things that I should have mentioned was is that I always forget this one step.
and one of the things that I should have mentioned was is that I always forget this one step.
Is that I'm going to have to put some kind of a stop on this.
So the next thing t do to is put a stop on here is that I'm joust going to take this middle thing out real quick
and put some tiles at the bottom
just to put a brake here to stop this door.
So let me do that real quick.
Okay I just made a stop for this.
It's simple, just some roof tiles.
It's simple, just some roof tiles.
So I took the thing out of the middle and I put this back in here.
So I took the thing out of the middle and I put this back in here.
I took this pillar out and removed one of the blocks on the bottom.
I took this pillar out and removed one of the blocks on the bottom.
So now it should make more sense now
So now it should make more sense now
for the door to just close.
And it looks similar to something like that.
So, one thing we're going to do is that we're going to start putting the other door together,
So, one thing we're going to do is that we're going to start putting the other door together,
and this will be the first time I've actually made a two-car garage.
And I was hoping I can find that one tile, but I guess i can't.
So let's get that other door together.
Alright, let's put the second door in shall we.
It gets a lot funner now.
Take one of these 3 by 2 angle pieces.
Take one of these 3 by 2 angle pieces.
Because a regular 2 by 2 won't fit here. So I'm going to stick it here.
You notice that I do a lot of finishing work on my stuff.
You notice that I do a lot of finishing work on my stuff.
Let's pull this other hinge out.
The same way as above except I got a
piece of here stuck in my door which I don't understand how that happened.
piece of here stuck in my door which I don't understand how that happened.
Okay, let's see if we can do this here.
These things don't like to cooperate right.
Hmm, I always get the hinges backwards on these. Okay.
Put this door in here.
Sometimes you just got to fight this stuff.
There you have it.
A two-car garage with individual working doors.
A two-car garage with individual working doors.
And the doors stop. They don't swing in.
And it's pretty finished inside as you can see the little ... that piece there so the door will stop.
And it's pretty finished inside as you can see the little ... that piece there so the door will stop.
And it's pretty finished inside as you can see the little ... that piece there so the door will stop.
So that looks good.
Now it's starting to look like a house.
One of the things that I'm going to do as a bonus is that I want to put little light in the front of my house.
One of the things that I'm going to do as a bonus is that I want to put little light in the front of my house.
So one of the things we're going to get, we're going to get one of these.,
and we're also going to get is we're going to make some light fixtures to put in the front of the house.
and we're also going to get is we're going to make some light fixtures to put in the front of the house.
I've seen a lot on these Lego Creator sets. So we're going to actually build one here.
The first thing you're going to do is here is some of the pieces you're going to need. You're going to need one of these taps.
The first thing you're going to do is here is some of the pieces you're going to need. You're going to need one of these taps,
yellow or a white round cylinder yellow thing
yellow or a white round cylinder yellow thing
and maybe one of these little black little rounded 1 by 1 round plate things.
and maybe one of these little black little rounded 1 by 1 round plate things.
I'm just going to stick it together like that.
Put this at the top.
Maybe something like that,
or we can do it backwards. Like that.
I like that better.
So one of the things that we're going to do...
well I think I like the other way better.
I'm just going to change it real fast.
See with Lego, you can just go anyway you want.
Stick an eyelet thing here with a little hole.
Stick an eyelet thing here with a little hole.
I'm going to stick it right here by the door.
Stick this inside.
Now that's a little too high.
I really think that is.
Pull that down.
As a matter of fact, I don't like sticking my 1 by 1 pieces. I'm just going to pull this out really quick.
You know what I'm going to do.... Well you know what, let's just .. naw I'm not worry about all that.
It's just too much.
Stick the light here like so.
Stick the light here like so.
You got a nice light there. Let's put this door back together.
Door doesn't hit it. Great.
Finish this area up.
And there you have it.
I'll put one on that side over there.
Over here we'll be done.
Over here we'll be done.
So now you get the idea.
