It's late summer
which means one thing: you're sitting around realizing
what a lazy slob you have then all summer, and now you're worried about your buddys
smoking you on
uphill climbs now that hunting seasonal is going to roll around. What you need to do is get back in shape
in a hurry and we're gonna help you out with that by providing some inspiration. MeatEater is
teaming up with
Wilderness Athlete to put on a physical training video
challenge. Here's how you enter. You just make a video of
your own hunting season training regiment. Post it on YouTube under
MeatEater Wilderness Athlete training video challenge.
We're gonna look at them all and pick out our favorite. The winner
is gonna receive a box of select Wilderness Athlete products
including stuff like Altitude Vantage, Hydrate and Recover,
and Energy and Focus. And we'r so serious about your help that the MeatEater team is gonna
throw in
a DVD box set. Here are a couple regimen examples from myself
and our producer Dan Doty. To get in shape for this fall
MeatEater season, I've been running, biking, and doing yoga this summer
here in New York. When I run, I try to run
hills as much as I can to get ready for some elevation,
and I bike to work which is mostly just for fun but is
a fairly good workout as well. In the months leading up to hunting season, I like to
get in shape
by doing lots of pushups and pull-ups, I hit my bike as much as possible,
I workout TRX and I do lightweights. I take long walks with
my kid on my shoulder. I put a bunch of weight your backpack and you step up with that
to get used to hill climbing, and a variety of other things. But your video
needs to top that and we want you to be as creative
and energetic as possible and when you're working out
remember lots of liquid, lots of fuel for your body.
You want to stay hydrated, you want to recover.
