What's good, Lancers. I'm Zayd Jaber. It's Friday, March the 21st, and PCC starts
now!
PCC One. Campus news in a minute.
PCC One is brought to you by the Associated Students of Pasadena City College. Associated
Students. Students for students. Visit us at as.pasadena.edu to get involved in your
education today.
Before we get to the weekend, let's get to the news:
Do you have a favorite instructor, facilities person, counselor, division dean, or basically
anyone that shows outstanding support to your education and the college, that you would
like to see honored? Well, you have until next Wednesday, to nominate your favorite
PCC person for a 2014 Risser Award. The Risser, as it's affectionately known, is to a PCC
employee as an Oscar is to an actor, a Grammy is to a musician, and a Sarphati is to a sanitation
innovator. For a nomination application, stop by C-241 or email: aspcc.ilee@gmail.com.
Get moving, you only have five days left.
It's time for the PCC Sportsbeat:
Our Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Team, led by breaststroker Arolyn Basham,
takes on not one, but two teams today at the Double Dual meet against Mt. Sac and East
Los Angeles. The aquatic action starts at 12:30 in the East Los Angeles Swim Stadium
in Monterey Park. Birdie watching is in full-effect today in the Hutto-Patterson Badminton Complex.
Our lady shuttlecockers were handed their first conference loss of the season at the
hands of ELAC on Wednesday, and they'll be out to exact a little revenge against the
Tartars of El Camino College Compton Center starting at 2. Have any of you seen sophmore
sprinter, Breanna Clark? If not, try and look for her today as she zooms by the competition
as our Track and Field team head to the University of Redlands to compete in the prestigious
Redlands Invitational today at 3.
Finally, there's two concerts on-tap this weekend in the stately, Sexson Auditorium.
First, our own Kyle Luck and Tad Carpenter will be leading the Lancer Concert Band and
Percussion Ensemble starting at 8PM. Tickets are $5 or $3 for students, staff, or seniors,
and can be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office. Saturday at 8, our PCC Orchestra
and Choir under the direction of Michael Powers and Donald Brinegar will be performing their
enchanting Spring Orchestra and Choral Concert, also in the Sexson Auditorium. Tickets are
available in the Center for the Arts box office for $5. Or, $3 if you're a student, staff,
or senior.
That's all the news that's fit to stream. If you have any news items or announcements
that you would like shared, please submit your request to lancerlens@pasadena.edu.
