For general XC or road style helmet like I'm wearing right now. What you?re looking for
is the helmets come in multiple shell sizes; usually small, medium, large and extra large.
Some manufacturers split their sizes. You have small/medium size, medium/large size.
So what you?re looking for is a size that fits. For me, it goes by hat size, I'm not
sure what my hat size is but I know I wear a medium helmet. What you have with your helmet
is your shell, which is made out of polystyrene foam which is really only good for one impact.
Some pads which aren't really for sizing, they're more for sweat absorption, channeling
the sweat; a nice little retention system that's adjustable and grabs onto the back
part of your head, then your straps. To properly put on this helmet, I'll push my hair back;
make sure my hair is out of the way. Put the helmet on, pull down the straps. Now I'm going
to push the retention system until it's relatively snug on my head, then I'm going to turn around
and check and make sure I have my chin strap properly adjusted. It looks like I do. These
yokes are even under my ear. I have a little bit of room to open my mouth. It's not super
tight, the helmets not really going anywhere, which is exactly what you want.
