Tim Gipson and I'm going to talk to you about how to use a washing machine. Now the first
thing we want to do when we're getting ready to use the washing machine is we want to sort
our clothes by the color, we want to do lights together, medium colors together and dark
colors together. So in this case I've got a couple of piles that I've started creating
for my laundry here. And now, regardless of what type of machine we're doing, most of
the time we're going to go ahead and once we have sorted we're going to go ahead and
load our clothes. Now in these front type of loading devices, and washing machines,
once I've loaded that I want to make sure the door is securely closed. Then I actually
have a dispenser system that's in here. The first cup will be for the detergent. Now whether
I use a liquid detergent, one thing we want to make sure is that we're using the amount
that is recommended by the manufacturer of the machine, so you want to consult your owner's
manual for looking at that, and make sure that you're not overusing. One for economy's
sake, and two just to make sure that you don't build up residual and can actually harm your
washing machine. So you want to make sure you use the appropriate type and the appropriate
amount. And then if you're using a cleaning type of agent, if it's a solid agent like
this, it's assisting the cleaning, you would actually put that in with your detergent.
There is a place to add liquid bleach, and then also fabric softener. So you put the
right amounts in there, you close that and then within the cycle of the washing machine
it will actually bring those detergents, fabric softeners and bleach in at the right cycle.
Then we want to choose our water temperature for light colors, white colors you want to
use a hot or warm water. For dark colors you want to use cold. So you will set that and
then you can choose your wash settings. And most of these are set either on whether you
have heavy soil or whether you are using a fabric type of material, whether it's delicate
or permanent press. So once you set that you can simply turn it on and you're ready to
go. So I'm Tim Gipson and that is how to use a clothing washer.
