Today we are out on the farm for our annual potato harvest party.
Which we do in mid-August every year.
and we are picking up potatoes that were planted in mid-March, early April this year.
Today we're doing Yukon Golds.
Members are out from the CSA to help out which is great,
we've got a great showing of folks and bearing the heat.
Kids: This one too.
Tanya: The beds out here are being dug first with the tractor
that pulls an implement called the "chachi"
and that lifts the potatoes, it kind of shakes underground
and lifts the potatoes up
and then we come through and pick the potatoes up into these
yellow bins and then we're bringing them into the barn
and then we'll go ahead and wash them
over the course of the next few weeks with our potato washer
Kids: We're never going to run out of french fries because we can always make more. Yeah.
Kids: There are still more potatoes.
Tanya: So we've gotten a lot of work done.
We've probably brought in about two tons of potatoes today which is exciting.
