About 400 people gathered
on Grand Valley State's Allendale
campus to symbolically break ground
on a new library
and celebrate a leap
into future learning and technology.
We know that the library will
support a model of learning
that will rival
that of any other university
in the country, and we are going
to be proud.
The Mary Idema Pew Library Learning
and Information Commons will have
room for more than 700,000 books.
There will be study rooms,
tech support and places to work
in groups or catch a meal.
It is named after current Board
chair Kate Pew Wolters late mother.
Mom was passionate about education
and about as education is the key
to unlock many doors.
The doors of the Pew Library will
open in 2013.
It's being called "unique"
and a "game changer."
