All right. In this segment we're going to take a look at the Tiffen
SteadyStick. Now, this guy's only 99 bucks, but it does a heck of a job. It
allows you to get some cool shots that you wouldn't be able to get without
it. Basically, it involves wearing this belt and you drop the SteadyStick
down into the hole and once you get it on there, you can screw it down,
tighten it up and then you can basically have all the weight off your
shoulder. If you've ever felt this camera, it weighs about 7, 8 pounds
depending on if you have the MA200 shoulder adapter on the camera or not.
With this now resting all the weight onto my hips instead of on my
shoulder, I'm free to shoot and even get some cool shots, even behind me if
I wanted to. I don't know why you'd do that, but you could. Now, you could
also take it up very, very high and screw this *** and then just bring it
up, up, up, up, up and away. Cool shots, you could see you could get some
really interesting shots like this. You could even go down. I'm going to
take it right back down. You can get some mid level shots like this. You
can even kneel down and you can get some low level shots, as well.
Another cool feature that I like about this thing a lot is the ability to
quick release. You have a coupler here, this little guy, you just boom and
you quick release right off and you're ready to go. Now, you can just hand
the camera off to somebody else if you need to. I'll go ahead and quickly
put it right back on. You can also use this handle here as a shoulder
mount. Say, for instance, you have a camera that doesn't have the shoulder
mount or you are using the XL1 or XL2, this provides some support. Another
cool feature is that you can use it as kind of a handle to just guide you
along while you're shooting.
Overall, it's a cool device for 99 bucks. I'd recommend one.
