Ok.
Mr McNicol?
Yeah?
Hi Im Martin Tilney.
Yeah hi Martin.
I made an appointment to see you today.
Yeah have seat.
Thanks.
So, everything ok? Girls- you’re not on drugs, right?
No Im fine.
I saw your mother the other day at the grocery store.
Oh you did?
Yeah she told me you were doing some JB basketball.
Yeah you know in my spare time I like to shoot a few hoops now and again.
Ok. Good.
But really why I wanted to see you today is because I was wondering if you could give me some advice. As you know, Im getting ready to enter college, and I have a few options but I don’t know which college would be best for me.
Well whaddaya have in mind? In general?
I just want something that will- where I can feel comfortable to study, and also with a lot of different people and interesting people I can meet.
Would you wanna stay near- near your house or get outta town?
Id like to- Id prefer to have a campus which is pretty close to where Im living.
Ok alright I see. Do you intend on staying with your parents or do you wanna try or-
No.
Dormitory? No ok.
Dormitory please.
Alright what about other classmates?
I havent really thought about that before but yeah Id like to meet some people from different cultures and maybe have some international students in there.
So you prefer a multicultural university?
Yeah.
How do you plan on getting to school?
If its close enough Id like to walk.
But if I have to travel- if I have to travel to school Id like to get a bus.
Ok well the tuition. Now whaddaya thinks gonna be most feasible?
You mean tuition fees?
Yeah. Whadda you prefer? You know schools can go in upwards of 30 thousand dollars a year so.
Right. I’m willing to spend up to 30 thousand a year on tuition fees. But no more.
There (are) a few different things I just wanna get your general ideas.
Ok.
Can you rate these? Just top- one to five. Financial aid, social life, friendly classmates, education quality, what do you think is most important?
Can I just pick the most important two?
Yeah.
Friendly classmates and education quality.
Ok.
