I just got back from a 2-day course at Front Sight in Nevada, and I know that any sort
of training I receive is a perishable skill, so I wanted to make sure that after I invested
the time, and going out there to the desert in the 100 degree heat and training, I had
what I needed to keep my skills fresh. So I downloaded the Front Sight Dry Fire Practice
App to check it out, and now I'm going to do a little review. Going from this main screen,
we see a couple different options. One of the neat things I want to point out right
away is if you go to my stuff, right away here you have a couple different options,
including register your application, and when you register, you get a free Front Sight 2-day
defensive handgun certificate, which right away, this application is paying for itself.
Back to the main screen, we see handgun timed dry practice drills. Dry Practice, and you
can choose from a variety of different scenarios. You can go through reload and malfunction
drills, and a complete walkthrough of all these scenarios.
This will be a single dry press to the center of the thoracic cavity from the holster. Face
downrange at your dry practice target. Ready! So on the three meter line, this will be a
single dry press to the center of the thoracic cavity from the holster. The line is set,
ready! Finish with after action drills. Once completed with after action drills, reset
your action. Engage your safety, or de-*** your weapon if appropriate, and slowly, safely,
return. I would say this is a really good investment
for any front Sight student. It's going to make your dry practice drills safer, more
effective, and just when it's a lot more convenient to take out the app and dry practice, I know
I'm going to do it a lot more often. So go ahead and check it out. It's on iPhone and
Android.
