Feeling hopeless? I know. Me too. Hi, I'm Nichole Kellerman here, founder and
creator of SuccessfulWeightLossSchool.com; where women go to stop dieting, reshape their
bodies and feel wildly alive. Okay so, as I'm sure you know I just got back
from my 3-week trip around Europe. It was amazing. It was awesome. I'm still jet lag.
I'm in my PJs. I have no make-up on. I'd like to keep it real but I'm just in a moment of
inspiration and I just want to record this. So, during my vacation, there were lot of
great times but there are also opportunities for lessons. You know what I'm saying.
When we go on vacation, it's not only about changing our physical environment and experiencing
something new. You know like experiencing new culture; experiencing new food; experiencing
relaxation. It also about how we react to this new physical environment and what I notice
through this vacation was a lot of highly-charged emotions come up.
Now why is this? Is because we no longer have our outlets.
So often when we're feeling a lot of emotions that we don't necessarily want to feel. We
find something to drown them up, like Facebook, email - a very socially acceptable addiction
obviously drugs, alcohol, video gaming, TVs, movies. You name it; it takes us out of reality
so we don't have to feel our emotions over food. That's the big one. That's kind of being
given. And so this was shown to me, over and over
and over again through my trip. And I'm not saying that, you know, am totally free of
this and I'm an angel and I don't deal this either because you know I deal as well. But
I have also invested in myself and paid thousands and thousands of dollars to gain access to
tools on how to deal with highly emotional situations so I don't turn to the refrigerator
and the ice cream and Facebook and movies. So I wanted to share with you one of my many
tools on how to deal with of super-charged emotion that you might run to the kitchen
when you feel it. Number 1 -- Just recognize that you're feeling.
Step out of your mind and recognize your feeling an emotion that feels a little uncomfortable.
Number two -- Put some sort of color or texture to it and figure out where you feel specifically
in your body. Isn't in your throat? Isn't in your stomach? It doesn't feel bubbly. It
doesn't feel rubbery. It doesn't feel hard. What is that feel like?
And the reason why you do this, I know this sounds a little out there, is it really makes
you realize that is always just an experience in your body? That's all it is. I don't want
you to go in your head about it and start to judge it.
"Oh my gosh. I'm feeling depressed. That means I need an ice cream. That means I need chocolate."
I don't want you to go into your head. I want you to stay in your body because when you
start over-analyzing it is when we're start running to those outlets to suppress it.
Just feel it. Just sit there and feel with it. Because they have proven that all it takes
is between 5 and 12 seconds for an emotion to pass. Remember, emotions are energy and
motion. So as long as you don't go and analyze them, it should move quickly. Easy as that.
