A San Diego State student overcame all odd to become the top leader on campus
Fox 5's Christy Walsky spoke with him this afternoon and joins us now to share his journey
from homeless to the Big Man on Campus
Once a child living on the streets he's now the student body president
"There was a point where my mom could not provide for me and I could provide better for
myself, so I took it upon myself at age eleven to pack my bag up, and I left." He couch-surfed
with friends and family about a year later Josh's life changed drastically
we came across a family who realized his need
"A fine family from Ocean Beach
offered me a place to stay for the weekend, and I'm proud to say, and so blessed to say that
that weekend turned into seven years this last October."
With a loving household Josh grew into the leader that
he is today
He's a fraternity brother for Sigma Phi Epsilon and the captain of San Diego State's surf club
He's also involved in numerous student organizations and now he can add student body president to the list.
Always humble, he attributes his success to others.
"I really liked giving back because I was so appreciative
of things I was given and people who helped me along the way."
Now Josh's number one goal is to use what he's learned
to help other with similar challenges.
