Recordings and scripts that you make with Screencast-O-Matic are saved on your local computer and listed in the Pro Tools window.
By default these files are saved in a special directory based on the current user for your local computer.
You can also setup specific locations to store and manage your files by clicking on the "Select Location" link.
This will bring up a box that you can use to select a different location.
At first you'll only have the "Default" location but you can add another by clicking on the "Manage Locations" link.
This will show more detail about your locations and give you the option of adding a new location.
To add a new location you click the "Add Location" button which will bring up a box to select the disk and folder you'd like to use.
One special note for mac users if you'd like to select a different disk you have to select the "Macintosh HD" option at the top then double click on Volumes to see the disk. 0:00:58.211,0:01:64.478 After selecting the folder you'd like to store the files in you can give the new location a name. 0:01:64.478,0:01:76.450 If you add a location that points to a folder on a networked or remote disk then it will most likely be too slow to actually record to or edit recordings and should only be used to store files. 0:01:76.450,0:01:80.252 Click the "Save" button to finish creating your new location. 0:01:80.252,0:01:86.503 If you later want to update the name on this location you can come back to this box and edit the name again. 0:01:86.503,0:01:94.625 Now that we have more than one location we can select it instead of the default one by choosing it in the drop down and clicking OK. 0:01:94.625,0:01:102.508 If we make a new recording by clicking the "Record" button the new recording created will be written to this location instead of the default one. 0:01:102.508,0:01:109.494 The same applies to using the "Import" button which will import a previously exported recording into this location. 0:01:109.494,0:01:114.249 We can also copy and move recordings and scripts between locations. 0:01:114.249,0:02:123.551 For example if we wanted to go back and move a recording that is in our default location to this new one then we'd select the default location again. 0:02:123.551,0:02:129.787 Then we'll choose a recording or script to copy or move it by selecting the copy or move option. 0:02:129.787,0:02:135.525 This will give us the option to select another location to copy or move the recording to. 0:02:135.525,0:02:142.957 We can also use the "Select Multiple" option to select many recording or scripts to copy or move between locations. 0:02:142.956,0:02:154.102 One last thing to note. If you click the "Start Recording" button from the web site instead of the Pro Tools window then new recording will always be placed in the Default location.
