For Complex News, I'm Hanuman Welch and it looks like the Tom Cruise's 'Edge of Tomorrow'
sequel is moving ahead full steam. The first movie was a sci-fi, sleeper hit that caught
most audiences by surprise and the first movie sits comfortably at 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have been tapped to write the sequel with Doug Liman
returning to direct and Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the first film, is in talks to join
as a producer and is helping to develop the script for the sequel.
Edge of Tomorrow was originally based on the Japanese novella, All You Need is Kill, which
was published bak in 2004 and the movie had a slow opening domestically, but it eventually
hit $100 million in the U.S. and grossing a further $270 million internationally which
seems like more than enough incentive to green-light a sequel.
We might be in for a bit of a wait for Edge of Tomorrow 2, since director Doug Liman is
set to direct the Gambit movie, which is scheduled to begin filming later this year
