Hello and welcome here at hoTodi, i am Bernd
In this tutorial we want look at the function for screensthots under Mac OS X
This time we check a system setting
and how we can manipulate screenshots
in this case the shadow of a screenshot, swtich it on or off
Maybe you want add your screenshot to a website
as it shall be published on my webpage or so
Lets first create a simple screenshot (we showed this in another videotutorial)
When we open this screenshot now, we can see the shadow
And exactly this shadow we do not want to use for our next screenshot
How are we gonne do this now?
We open a terminal
You find it in your Applcations-Folder
No we must write a special command into the terminal - which is in my video description
With this command we disable the shadow function for screenshots
To activate it press enter (and please check my video description for the exact command!)
After the command is entered we must do one more step
We must tell the system, that this is changed and
restart the service that serves the screenshot functions
To do this, we simple kill this service with "killall SystemUIServer"
Now... lets test it and make another screenshot
You see the difference? The old comes with and the new without a shadow
So far so good. But now we want get back our beloved shadow
Open up your Terminal again, write the same command as before with only one difference
again check my description to get the correct command or use just copy & paste :)
And as before, restart the SystemUIServer!
That was it! So easy!! Make a screenshot and see: The shadow is back :)
Thats from my side for this little system tipp, please support us and subscribe to the hoTodi channel :)
