Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, checking out this Accel super coil on plug
kit for 2011 and up Mustang GTs. Accel’s been in the performance ignition game for
over 40 years and continues to produce parts that aim to squeeze every ounce of horse power
out of your car. This coil on kit is designed to give your new 50 motor a spark that is
10-15% stronger than the OEM coils. A stronger spark means a cleaner, more complete burning
of fuel, which means more horse power. So we want to see what kind of improvement these
will get us but before we go install them, we want to get a baseline number down from
our modified 2011 GT back there. Our 2011 GT is already equipped with a boss 302 intake
manifold, Ford 90mm throttle body and a JLT cold air intake. Our baseline run on our modified
2011 GT gave us 379 horsepower, and 329 ft/lbs of torque. So now let’s change out the stock
units in favor of the Accel coils. Install is very simple and should take you about 30
minutes using standard hand tools. These replace your factory coils so everything is completely
plug and play. Now that we’ve got the coils installed let’s do another dynamo run to
see the difference this kit makes. So with the Accel coils installed our modified 2011
GT made 384 horsepower and 333 ft/lbs of torque. This means a gain of 10 horsepower and 9 ft/lbs
of torque throughout the curve over our baseline. The Accel kit installs easily and is a great
compliment to any performance mods you might already have, or any performance mods you
might do down the road. On our 2011 GT we were able to pick up 10 horse power, and 10ft/lbs
of torque through the entire curve, which is very impressive.
