Hello, and welcome back to another episode of osu!academy!
I'm ztrot, and today we're going to go over "Catch The Beat".
Catch the Beat was unlike any other gamemode in osu!
because there is no longer need to hit buttons on time with the beat.
Instead, you focus on catching the fruits
to the beat of the music
Did you know?
That Catch the Beat was second extra gamemode to be added
into osu!
It was based off a minigame from another popular rhythm game.
CtB Mode Gameplay and Controls
By default, the left and right arrow keys are used to move the catcher
pressing the left shift key with one of the arrow keys
will make the catcher dash in that direction
as indicated by a bright glow around the catcher.
Hyper dash is automatically triggered gameplay element in CtB play mode
designed to obliterate "impossible jumps"
that is when two were previously impossible to catch
because of the distance that seperated them
It is automatically activated when obtaining the red glowing fruit
at the first impossible pair.
It stays activated you are in range of the second fruit or already missed it.
It will speed you up a variable amount
such that if you are dashing,
you will always be able to make it to the destination in time.
Sliders are self explanatory
Players will be forced moving slowly
or quickly
on the track going left or right
for the direction of the slider.
Spinners are free for all frenzy
in which players have the duration of the spinner
to collect as many bananas as possible.
You can also map a gamepad to the controls
for a different way to play.
Or you can use mouse control if you enable the relax mod.
As with other gamemodes, we suggest you start off playing easier maps at first.
As you get better with practice,
go ahead and tackle the harder ones.
And remember,
always approach a hyper dash as you would a normal dash
and you should get in there everytime.
Well, that is it for most today of the academy
If you have any questions
be sure to check out the other videos for other gamemodes.
We hope to see you real soon!
