Hello, I’m Parks Bonifay. I’m a professional wakeboarder owner and the owner of Ronix Wakeboards.
I’ve been wakeboarding for 15 or 16 years now. I was fortunate enough to get into the
sport when it was a young infant. I’ve watched it and grew up along with wakeboarding, and
I’ve gotten to see how the sport’s changed from boards, to boats, and now, boots. Ronix
has dominated in the evolution of wakeboarding boots for the past 4 four years. From a performance
standard and structural standard, the way closed-toe boots have come, and the way Ronix
makes their boots, is over the top. It’s better than I ever thought it would be. Here
are a couple of things that are different and the same with Ronix boots. The one thing
we want to accomplish in every boot is to have the heel pull to the back of the boot
in a tight fit. That’s the most important thing to keeping your safety. It may be a
preference of what you like, but some people like a boot that has more structure and a
more stiff side-to-side. Also, some people like a lower-cut boot that’s softer. Depending
on your riding style, whether you’re hitting rails, or if you just like a softer or stiffer
boot in general, you have the option to choose with the Ronix boots. Personally, I like a
boot that is softer. The Ronix boots’ EVA foam is a little bit softer, and it has a
lot more flexibility side-to-side. One of the unique things about Ronix boots is our
Intuition liners. It’s an exclusive product that only we have. When you come into the
store and you buy Ronix boots, you can throw them in on a heater, and it heats up and actually
expands the foam. Then you put the boots on and fasten them as tightly as you can. As
that material cools off, it molds to your foot. That’s one of the best things that
you get with Intuition liners, and you can only get them with the Ronix boot. With the
new 2001 Ronix boots, we have new Intuition Plus liners. It’s less prone to getting
packed out, it’s lighter, and it’s actually softer, so that it gives it a better feel,
while giving you the support that you need. One of the best features with Ronix boots
is having a baseless plate. That brings you closer to the surface of the board. I used
to ride boots and switch back and forth almost on a weekly basis, going from a boot that
was about 1 ½ inch to a boot that was roughly right on the board. The difference you get
in board when you’re standing on 1 ½ inch off of it, compared to standing right on it,
is insane. You get a much better response being closer to the surface of the board.
You really feel that the board is more a part of what you want it to do. With baseless boots,
you take out a lot of material, so it’s lighter. With our boots, you are practically
standing on the surface of the board, while still keeping a lot of padding underneath
your feet, so that you don’t get the heel bruises that you may get with other boots.
With Ronix boots, we have low-friction eyelets now. When you lace up your boots, there’s
no tension when you’re pulling up, so you’re really getting a good consistent pull-down
when you yank on any of your laces all the way through your boot. With Ronix Wakeboards,
one of the things we’ve always wanted to do is be environmentally friendly. That’s
why we make all of our boots PVC free. We’re keeping it environmentally friendly. For those
of you who did not get a set of the 500 Limited Reflecto Boots, now we have a similar version
in black, which are pretty much the same chastity as the Reflecto boots. Now, you can get your
share of it.
