Hi this is Andrew on behalf of Expert Village.com and right now I am going to be showing you
how to thread a needle. There are a couple of different ways of doing it. The typical
way is to take some thread and snip off the end because as it lies around in storage typically
the ends of the thread get a little bit frayed so it is tough to thread it through the needle
if that is the case. So you want to just snip the end of it off so that you have a fresh
end and then you take your needle and sometimes people run it through their mouth. It just
depends on the type of thread and how easily it can become frayed. In this case you just
want to thread it directly through the eye of the needle, bring it out the other side
and you bring the thread down once you figured out your length and snip it at the base. Now
that you have cut your thread, you want to tie a knot on the end to keep the thread from
going through the fabric. When you thread the needle through the fabric, it is stopped
by this knot that you are creating right now. So I am just going to tie a couple of knots
and make sure they wind up in this same spot to make it thicker. The other way of threading
a needle is by using a thread helper and this is typically for people that don’t have
as good of dexterity in their fingers or eye sight. It just basically helps to facilitate
in threading the needle a lot easier because it gives you a larger hole. This is the thread
helper. You take your thread and set it aside and you take your needle and the thread helper
as you can see it has a wire on the end of it that’s looped back on it. Now if you
take the wire and you string that through the hole of the needle which is a lot easier
to do than thread, you could leave that there, have a larger hole and take the thread and
push it through. Once you do that, you just pull that through the needle and it comes
out and then you have your final threaded needle.
